To top it all, I dont have him on the 51 either. I thought I did but it turns out to be just his father and Step mother,(yes he had one too), and his only other surviving brother. This has to be the longest saga ever.

Your not kidding Julie. Enough to drive anyone insane. Lets hope you can find a way of proving it is him. Looks likely with him being missing doesn't it. Germaine x

Germaine, I think they are the same patients. on the 61 he was supposedly born leek, in hospital in Shelton, Hanley. On the 71 born shelton. If this is him who would blame him with his family background.

Leek is close by and Hanley is even nearer. There is no reason to mistake leek for Madeley so I dont know if this is him. Is he still there on the 71.

The only Leck I can find is in Lancs. I can not see any reason for him being there. His occu[ation on the 81 is carter!

Juelz Report 29 Sep 2005 17:42

Hi Germaine, He has not been found on the 61 or 71. I have not heard of Leck so I can not answer your question. He could be anywhere, in fact I was thinking of looking abroad after tea. He may have emigrated and then come back again. I will look up Leck to see where it is

Hiyah Sorry I disapeared, mind you don't think I could have kept up with you all. Would really have got all the names mixed up. So I take it you are still looking for Richard in 1861. Could he have been ill in a hospital. Is Leck? near Madeley there is a RL in an infirmary there. Germaine x

Sorry Tracy, I was trying to map out. You found Martha on the 71 married to a Thomas Lewis. I just found the marriage in 68. Lewis marries a Lewis which is why there is no other surname on her second Marriage. Bmd has a death in 73 so she did not hang around for long. I am about to try and find out who he is. Yes I occaisionaly use Rootschat. Unlike here, I do not always get a reply.

Do you have access to Rootschat? Might be an idea to enlist the help of people with CDs.

Yes. I am in the process of trying to map it all out. By the way, an alternative spelling has sometimes been leya, something to do with the accent I think

Does your library have Norton in the Moors records? You should check that marriage out, since it's not direct from records. Wouldn't suprise me in the least though lol

So let me see if I got this right... Richard and Elizabeth had Richard who married Martha and they had Richard who married Ann Ashley who had Richard Ashley Lear So they are all related after all :) lol - this thing just keeps going in circles! I guess it must've been a close community!

Juelz Report 29 Sep 2005 15:45
