Hello, this is about James William Morrish above. In 1905 he marries Flora Margaret Alexander(Alexandria) Robertson in Scotland. (Indexed on Scotland's People). I have the 1911 census (on family search her name is Tom??? Margaret Alexander Robertson) obviously mis-transcribed and they are at Middlesbrough. On the 1901 census on FMP she is at Ellon, Savach, Aberdeenshire born 1880. Could someone please take a look at the 1901 census please. Thank you.

I got my info off fmp. And yes, I agree, Race should be simple but it could be Rayse/ Rase/Raise. Keeps us all on our toes :-D :-D

Marian

Marian Report 3 Jul 2018 11:53

Thank you Alvie and Margaret. Do you get your info off Ancestry or FMP? I think the census collectors must have either been deaf or couldn't spell. I've had a few variations of Race over the years and you couldn't get a simpler name than that.

Ann Bean was born 25 Sep. 1843, Eston, daughter of James Bean and his second wife Elizabeth Ord. James was at one time innkeeper at the Stapylton Arms, Eston which I understand is still in existence.
After John Race's death in 1866 Ann married Thomas Mellanby 15 June 1867, Eston.

I think this may be William Fountain in 1881. I have no idea why he is down as being unmarried. In 1871 he is an ironstone miner from Selby.

Wow! Not very often that you see someone from your own tree mentioned on the boards. I'm a great grand niece of Ann Bean who married John Race and then Thomas Mellanby.
