William Mark Elks parents were Charles Elks & Catherine Smart. Charles was born 1852 in Portobello, Staffordshire- his father was Mark.

I know this is repeating whats on the the thread, but putting the census in order might make it easier to see. I can't see Charles in 1871.

The Wedding Cert was also signed by Charles Hudson who marries Catherine Elks in Shoreditch in 1922.

I have a copy of the 1937 Wedding Cert for Harry Frederick Wilfred Elks to Violet Alice Sanders it says fathers name (Harry). Is William Mark Elks occupationRailway Employee, the wedding took place at St John's Church, Highbury.

I wonder if this might be Catherine Jane Elizabeth Elks death registration....
