Hi Austin, Thanks for your reply and advise re subscriptions. I am torn, I always got on well with Ancestry London Voters but there are some adverse comments about them blocking some of it and wanting premium membership - and your own experience on FMP makes me think - "If in doubt - Leave it out!" Once I get the birth cert next week I will see what address it gives. Enjoy the nice weather. |

I think ordering the certificate is a good move- and even if it doesn't answer any questions, at least it's another stone turned and a loose end tied up. |

Hi Austin/Joonie. I have just ordered a birth certificate for Irene Bass to see what address is given. To do a thorough job on this I need to join either FMP or Ancestry. Can't afford both. I like the London Voters part of Ancestry. Do you now if FMP has that now? The next step with the 1939 listings is to search for all the Marys who lied about their age and knocked a couple of years off - So 9 August 1889 or 1890. |

The Bass/Wass baby Irene was born in 1914 and died when she was two. WW1 was going on at the time. Henry Frederick only appeared in Philip Road Camberwell in 1920 and Lilian appeared there in 1924 and they were childless from then on. I am tempted to spend on a birth cert for that baby! And round and round we go - and none of it really matters does it? An addiction without doubt. |

Now you come to mention it - it is strange that the Ann Mary Bass in those few years in the 30's was there after Henry had got Lilian Wass. Maybe I should investigate that person? She must have been at least 21 to be on the electoral register. Could she be a daughter from Mary Ann (1888).? :-) |

Hmmm, Jennifer- I think I may have got this mixed up with another family I've been working on- I had (in my head) that there was a small snippet that I spotted in the paper that absolved Henry of his wife's future debts- However, I can't find it now and think it may have been connected to another family- my apologies Jennifer. |

Hi Austin, Can you tell me about the newspaper article you say Henry placed. The one earlier in this thread is not about my Henry & Mary as they married in Stepney in December 1907 and appeared on the 1911 census as childless after three years of marriage. Roll on 2021 and hope I still have my marbles by then. I can see from your last posting that I am not the only person with a conundrum. |

I don't want to dampen things, but I don't think it was his wife Mary on the electoral register- why would she return after he'd been living with another woman and had a child with her? |

thanks to AustinQ for the list -- my half-price FMP subscription expired 10 days ago and I haven't decided what to do about it. ;) |

Thanks Joonie. Another one bites the dust. I really thought I was on to something with Arthur being in the police. Very grateful for you kind assistance as always. |

Hi Austin, I am being kept busy with your list of Marys. The couple Arthur and Mary Humphries caught my eye in particular as he was a policeman. However I cannot trace a marriage on free BMD. Could this mean they were not married and she could be my missing Mary Ann Bass nee Connor? |

Hello Austin/Joonie. I have done tree searches on all the husbands on your list and hope something comes from that. I was sorry about upsetting Joonie as she has been such a great help to me with several of my searches. I honestly thought the 1939 census and getting the exact date of birth extracted from the software was a standalone issue. I already knew everything else. I had already contacted the national archives to see how I could get a list of all females with the date of birth 9 Aug 1888 from the 1939 census and so far not had a reply from them. Thanks again for all your help. |

No, Jennifer, this thread is about the same people as all your other threads, in spite of the several times you have been asked to stick to a thread where so much work has already been done on them ... |

Hi Joonie. This thread is purely about the contents of the 1939 census. Everything else has been covered by the previous threads and thanks again for your part in those. |

AustinQ, you might want to know (and Jennifer, there really have been too many threads about these people with never any warning to helpers that the ground has all been trod before, and now starting it all over in someone else's thread) |
