does anyone know how long it usually takes for a birth cert to arrive standard post?

Sarah, you should not post personal details (birth and marriage details) here for people who are probably living ... whether or not they are related, they may not want that info being talked about on the internet

people born after 1930 are very possibly living ... and their children would be in any event

so I would delete those births and marriages

all you need to say is that you found, e.g., Cutts-Wall births and marriages that could match those births

you certainly want to start with the earliest certificates in any chain, to establish that you are looking at the right person to start with (that is, that the person is the child of the parents you are looking for)

Sarah

you now have to buy those certificates to find out what they say ....... that's the only way you will determine whether they are your family

buy only from GRO ............. each certificate will cost you £9.25, incluidng post and handling

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

you have to register, but it is free

You will be asked if you have the GRO registration number, answer YES ................ it is that set of 2 numbers at the end of the entry

John was from the census of 1911. Many parents only said the first names but nick names and shortened versions have also been used in censuses. It is very easy to get confused with the way some people had names, ages and birth areas changed each census.

The John I found in the births had a second name of William. I am guessing this is your John as without the maiden name of the mother it is guesswork The birth cert would have all the details.

sarah Report 28 Jan 2015 21:36

on the original posting of John you didnt state a middle name but in the later one you have put him with a middle name.

sarah .......................

Yes ................. by using freebmd!!

go to freebmd.org.uk

scroll down and click on Search

Click on Births

Enter father's surname

Enter mother's maiden surname

Enter year beginning the year before their marriage, and ending about 20-25 years later

I would not enter a county, as they may have moved around the UK

Click on Find

You can do this very easily yourself!

Is there any way that i can find out if Florence Wall and John Cutts who got married in 1933 had any children if the next census isnt available yet. ?

If the marriage is registered in Chesterfield then would children possibly be registered there ?

Can you help me please ?

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 28 Jan 2015 10:38

I have put in 2 marriages already see above but I can't guarantee they are their marriages.

The last census allowed online is 1911 which you already have on this thread showing them as children. There has to be 100 years between the census and it being made public online so we still have 6 years before 1921 census. There have been mutterings that it may be early but that seems to have gone quiet.

That's not John, look at his age in 1965 he'd be 63/64 not in his 70s. He was born about 1901/2
