The birth date on his christening to parents John and Ann was 14th April 1874 and the death cert gives 14th April 1873. This often happens where the informant knows when the birthday was celebrated but was often not quite sure of the birth year.

I would say that this was most certainly the same one and that he was born in Helston. Therefore not the brother of Rosina and son of William and Cordelia.

I am still looking for more details............

Hello

Ive been going over all the information I have been giving. I have found some odd things

Frederick who married Beatrice says his parents are John and Anne. Would it be possible after his mother died he was brought up by his grandparents who happen to be John and Anne Vincent. But then this Frederick was born 1873 according to his death certificate. Which also states he wasnt in the military services. His registration card says he was .

'Family Search has Frederick Vincentborn 1875 son of William and cordelia marrying Mary Cordelia Burt. The other thing I realized was once Frederick went to live in the United States he mainly went under the name of Fred (not sure if it means anything, thought I would mention it anyway.

Thank you mgnv - I know I am not explaining things very well but I know there is something amiss here.

I do believe that both Fredericks join up into this family somewhere but I am still not convinced that we haven't mixed them up in the wrong order somewhere.

I will work on it......................... back later..........

I don't know if that cemetery is a churchyard, or a municioal one. Most municipal cemeteries have some unconsecrated graves - I mean, if you're a jew or a methodist or whatever, it's a bit insulting to be told your only choice of graves is one that's been blessed by the CofE, or else one that's been blessed by the RCs.

I agree with Dea - I really can't see how Rosey's Fred would appear in 1901/11, and yet appear in the US in 1900/10. I know it's feasible, but I don't see it happening. Besides which, Bea says her Fred's dad is John not Wm - see:

Well, I have had my night's sleep andhave spent a couple of hours trying to unwind this.

However, I still have a problem in that there were 2 Frederick Vincent's born in the same quarter 1874:

Births Jun 1874
Vincent Frederick Helston 5c 213
Vincent Frederick St. Austell 5c 118

The first is registered in Helston so that is straightforward.

The second in St Austell which is the registration area for Crantock which was 'your' Frederick's place of birth on 1881 census.

I believe they both belong to your family but Maryb shows it was the Helston one who went to USA and his parents were John and Ann as shown on his baptism posted above.

"unconsecrated ground" means ground that has not been consecrated, ie, blessed by a minister of religion .......... that usually means consecrated by an Anglican minister or a Roman Catholic priest.

This was usually an area just outside the church graveyard

In earlier days, people who had not been baptised or who had committed suicide could not be buried in consecrated ground, and would be buried in the unconsecrated area.

You would have to buy her death certificate to see if you can determine why Rosina was buried in the unconsecrated area.

Forgive me but what does unconsecrated ground mean. I just googled St. Columb Major cemetary but they dont seem to have a search for burial on it.

I think we have all lost the plot here so I am not surprised if you have gone off to bed - I am just about to do the same thing !!

I don't think it was 'your' Frederick who married Mary Cordelia but I do think that he was part of your family one way or another !!

We will start again tomorrow and try to unravel it all !

What a very complicated family you do have :-S :-S :-S

It is certainly a very interesting one!

Nite nite now,

Dea Xxx

I am so so confused. I already lost the plot so I had to go to bed.

It makes it awkward when families marry into their own families. If this was my Frederick who married Mary Cordelia Burt then how could he be in the US in 1895, unless he was back and forward quite a bit.

Maria Burt had a brother Jonathan born in 1852.

He married a Louisa Mitchell in 1871:

Marriages Dec 1871 (>99%)
BURT Jonathan Truro 5c 245
Goyne Elizabeth Truro 5c 245
Mitchell Louisa Truro 5c 245
Tregea John Truro 5c 245

They were the parents of the Mary Cordelia Burt who married 'a' Frederick Vincent in 1898................

These two families are VERY intertwined!!!

birth years on the census record will almost always vary by at least one year, and sometimes 2, from the known birth year.

When the census was taken, people were asked their age in years .................

............. modern day transcribers had to then translate age year into birth year

whether the transcriber's birth year matches the real birth year depends on the actual date that the census was taken vs the actual birth date .................

You should always search for people i records by birth year +/- 2 to take this discrepancy into account.
