The address given in all but 1 is Regent Street, the only difference is Sarah Jane Gertrude, it states the address of Tranmere!! David's occupation on all is either victualler or barman.

The Arthur Cross that married....... Who did he marry and when/ where did he die? I suspect that the Arthur Cross family we are looking at now probably did have Oswald as his middle name seeing that the other two infants that died young also had unusual middle names.

Hi Ann,

Did they live in Bebbington? In Heedwood or Leedwood Cottge. If so I think I may have found his WW1 pension records.

These records also state a marriage date of 12.09.1918, Mrs Margaret Agnes Cross residing at Courthouse Farm.

Looking on further it's him!!!! Confirms his marriage to Margaret Agnes Rice.

I've turned the 1901 census upside down, inside out and I've shaken it all about and I can't for the life of me find the Cross family in 1901.

It states on the 1911 census that William and Lucy have been married for 6 years and 2 children to that marriage....... Thinking that Charlotte and Catherine are most likely lucy's daughters prior to her marriage to William.

So the 1901 census is really vital to help tracing your Arthur to find his mothers name. I'll keep on for a wee hit longer.

I thought Ann's Arthur had parents David and Margaret? If so, this is the wrong Arthur married to Margaret Rice.

If Ann's Arthur married in 1918 and the Arthur with parents David and Margaret died in 1917 then it's going to be the wrong Arthur.

When I looked at other Arthur's around the area I found the WW 1 pension records for the Arthur married to Margaret Agnes Rice which is the correct Arthur, unfortunately I can't locate him with his father in 1901, nor can I find Lucy who later married Arthur's father William in 1901.

The service record gives conflicting ages, 18y 1m, but later on it states 17y 9m on 24/11/1908, so born around Feb 1891 which would tie in with the 1891 Census.

Well done Flip, really good find and it now ties Arthur into the family.
