only by getting the birth cert of one of his children can we check that the marriage is correct

and then getting the marriage cert will hopefully give us his age and fathers name (hopefully)

can you do more researching without record?

you can order the birth, marriage or death certificates on www.gro.gov.uk

certificates are £9.25 each from the gro (never pay more than this)

you will need the references given to you earlier

I don't think you can go any further until you order that marriage certificate.

So the births given before for Guy H Oliver and Joan w Oliver were correct!

I would think that looking at Maureens post above then the marriage I gave you for 1918 Clara M Harris & George H Oliver were the parents of your dad and that Herbert changed his name around
