John -

There is NO marriage of an Alice Merryweather to a Walter Wood anywhere in England/Wales, at any time, on Familysearch or FreeBMD.

Where did you find that information?

You have an Alice Merryweather born 1921 on your GR tree.
Is that the woman you mean?
But there is no such birth on FreeBMD.

Walter’s age in 1911 is 8…..not 5

OP’s father was born 1902, so someone born 1903 cannot possibly be any sort of DIRECT antecedent

Did Thomas Wood and Elizabeth Martin have a child Gladys ivy Wood 1915-1987 who married a Norman [surname]?

There is no record of such a birth in England or Wales, on FreeBMD, which you can check for yourself.

Search births, with just the two parents' surnames.

There is also no record of a Gladys I Wood marrying a Norman of any surname, in England or Wales.

You can also check that for yourself on FreeBMD.

I can't see any marriage in England/Wales of a Thomas Wood to an Elizabeth Martin, either.

Where are you getting your information from, please?
(Already asked re Alice Merryweather - but no reply.)

Ah -

Do you mean the Thomas and Elizabeth in Taunton, in the 1911 census posted by Greyghost on 19 October?

That Elizabeth's name was CHORLEY, not Martin.

They had a daughter Gladys Ivy born in 1915:

WOOD, GLADYS IVY mmn CHORLEY

Oh, I see - Norman is a surname, not a first name.
