i deleted the link but kept a copy just incase we need it, i do same on page 3 now x

just phone aunt marion no answer i will try her again soon it's not like her to be out on a sunday this time of the day so i wonder where shes gone, she told me around 2 yrs ago when i was questioning her about her fathers side of the family and i am sure she said she was around 7 yrs old her father took her to london to meet her grandfather, she remember s this so well cos her grandfather gave her some money and when they were coming home she remembers Joe taking it off her and never giving it back to her so this is why i remember her telling me this cos it was quite a shocker my grandad joe behaving like this. so i say between 7 and 9 yrs the most when she met him

Hmmmm, there are no Josiah John deaths in the London area.........there are a couple of Joseph John deaths after 1947 in London.

So perhaps I am on the wrong track with the birth of Joseph being Josiah?? :-((

Mary

Michelle Report 14 Nov 2010 15:01

oh i hope not cos everything at beginning makes so much sense, i trying aunt marion again and uncle howl see what they say x

it also makes sense it got to be him cos Josephs middle name is William and in the census records the i saw the name william many times, soi still think it could be x

Maybe great grandfather changed his name to Joseph later on aswell?

Contrary Mary

Contrary Mary Report 14 Nov 2010 15:29

Hi Michelle

Yes, it's always possible that ggfather was known as Joseph.

It's also possible that ggfather lived in London for a while, but didn't die there.

I really think you need to get the marriage cert for Olwen and Joseph before we can get any further........no point going down the wrong line is there. :-((

Mary i spoke with my uncle Howl and explained everything to him about Josieh my ggrandfather and my grandfather his son he thinks this could be him because they both had the same first names and later on my ggreat grandfather Joseih was known as Joseph and this also looks like what my grandfather did changed his name to Joseph, he also said that my ggrandfather was born in wales and his 2nd wife was born in wales both moved to london later and they were living there by the mid to late 1940s cos my aunty went up there and met him and we have family in camarthen (which i did not know about) where the 2nd marriage took place so this marriage must be correct and later they moved to london, so the death of Lydia in London could be right so thank you. i have also found out my grandfather joined the merchant sea navy when he was 14 or 15 he lied about his age and over time he became the Chief Steward..

I also want to say that when i mentioned the name Violet for my ggreat grandfathers first marriage this name rang a bell again to my uncle so again we must be on the right track cos my uncle said all that i told him has rang many bells

One thing my uncle said, his father was a very secretive man and so was his father he said Joe has a brother (not even my mother new this) but had never met him and is not sure if he was younger or older but he does think he was born in wales and someone with the name Barri or Barry John a rugby player was related to joe and the place called gorfeinon toward llanelli
means something
