Just guessing, but they landed in Montreal, then it looks like they set off by train for Victoria BC, detouring thru the US somewhere, then eventually made their way to Dominion City, and from there headed somewhere south.
I did something similar once, travelling by car from Cape Breton Island NS thru Canada, then crossing into the US at Sarnia ON so I could visit the northern border states before crossing back along the Pacific Highway into Vancouver BC - tuns out this is the only time I've visited Montana & Idaho.
