Sandra

I noticed that last night and the signature looks remarkable similar to your Roberts not quite sure if it was possible to hold down a regular job and act as registrar, it may well have been given the large numbers of people back then who could not read or write.

You'll never believe the name of the Registrar of Robert and Henrietta's Marriage ??

It was ROBERT CAMPBELL. They're everywhere.

Sandra

Sandra Report 14 Nov 2009 10:34

I wouldn't be surprised.
I'll try contacting James.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 13 Nov 2009 22:35

I was thinking more of Roberts wee sister. If James has them both in his tree it may be worth contacting him to ask if you can view it.

I was wondering if they were releated especially as she took him to court to admit that he was the father. Wonder if the dads were brothers?

Jackie,
Robert and Elizabeth were both Campbells, I bet, knowing my luck, they were related somewhere along the line.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 13 Nov 2009 22:20

Sandra all the entries are registered in Greenock east if you put Roberts name in there are a few ppl with matches around the date that he would have been born according to 1901 census it should be roungly 1874/78 depending on how they rounded the ages there is also a match for a Henrietta Deane and a Henrietta Campbell with a man called James

Sandra

Sandra Report 13 Nov 2009 22:18

Jackie,
Thank you, the surname Deane doesn't ring any bells, unlike the loads of Campbells I have in my tree.
