Since all the ancient Greek I remember from my lessons is 'hoi polloi' (and I do remember that 'hoi' means 'the') I will have to fall back on Latin although I think I'm a day late here:

Felix Saturnalia to all hoi polloi!

et pax vobiscum in novo anno.

Our yard is a sheet of ice and so is half the communal drive to the 5 of us that live in our semi circle.
The postie crashed his van into a fence halfway up the drive (a short one ) got turned round and went!didnt leave our post the rotter, and he was unharmed so he could have!

But thats one less bill or christmas card arriving that I wasnt expecting.

Yule tide greetings to all....

Get up everyone, Santa's been!

House buzzing already, tea, toast and fun for everyone.

Watch out for the Christmas tree, theyre very dangerous in the wrong hands according to BBC breakfast news this morning!!

Which brings to mind my uncle...one year he put real candles on the tree, everything went well until the tree caught light....numpty

Happy Christmas.......now wheres that champain

My grandad was Llewellyn. When I asked my mother why he was called Llewellyn (as opposed to John, or George, or William), she reckoned her mother must have just liked the name. Hmm. Turns out his Uncle was Llewellyn too, and his grandfather one John Davies born 1841 Llanasa, Flintshire. If any of you Welsh people can find him, I will wish you Happy New Year in Derbyshire. Ow art, a-reet? comes to mind.

Love to all

Oh dear, two John Davies to fit the specs in 1851

Name: John Davies
Birth: abt 1840 - Llanasa, Flintshire, Wales
Residence: 1851 - Llanasa, Flintshire, Wales
parents William and Anne

Name: John Davies
Birth: abt 1839 - Llanasa, Flintshire, Wales
Residence: 1851 - Llanasa, Flintshire, Wales
mother Margaret

but only the William and Anne one is in 1861 and 1871 (unmarried at 31 in 1871)

But the other one (1839) is in 1841 with parents John and Margaret in Llansa Flintshire. Ha so is the William and Anne one (1840) and so is a William and Ellizth one (1840). Surely that is not too many, lol.

More more tell us more. When and where were the Llewellyns born??
