Sarah

You can send off to the GRO, the address is

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Use the information that was sent earlier for the marriage. It will cost £7.00 and take a couple of weeks max to get back to you.

The father does not need to be present at the registration, the mother can give all the details.

i don't understand how he can't be her father, do you think it is possible that he didnt turn up to sign the register of my grans birth

Victor

Sarah

Anyway, what we need now is the information from the marriage of Mary and Samuel, this might give us the father of Mary and her age. This way we can trace her family back.

Sarah

As I see it.

Your G Grandmother was pregnant with your Grandmother and Samuel Devine stood by her and decided to marry her, even though it was more than likely not his child, otherwise hs name would have been on the birth certificate.

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Oct 2008 19:08

my gran was born until march 1912 so she would have been 6 mths pregnant

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Oct 2008 19:07

Possible marriage
Marriages Dec 1911
Devine Samuel Basford 7b 403
Fullwood Mary Basford 7b 403

Victor

Sarah

Sorry do not understand what yhou are saying. If your Gran was born 3rd March 1911 and her mother was married at the earliest the begining of October, that is only 6 months differnece, so she must have been pregnant.

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Oct 2008 19:04

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Oct 2008 19:03

i not to sure if my gg gran was pregnant when she was married my uncle said she got married to a samuel devine sept 1911 no later than march 1912, unless my uncle as got it wrong

Victor

Victor Report 4 Oct 2008 18:58

Sarah

As you can see from the birth date of your grandmother, her mother was already pregnant with her when she married. Don't worry about this, it happened far more often than you may think.
