Because Marshall is such a common name it took me 45minutes to search three years but never saw another child, I wonder if they would have been registered under her maiden name. If I get some free time I'll try and trawl through more of the marshall births to see if anything shakes loose. I went as far as '63.

Same age as my uncle and he's very much alive. But you need to look for her remarrying and then look for a death. If there is no death then she could still be alive but not necessarily in this country.

Why did his brother adopt Ray, do you know? (I'm just curious now)

no he is definately his father they have met years ago yes they did divorce and he did remarry it would make her 65 so she still could be alive ?

Just a thought...but just because she married Terence. P. Marshall, doesn't mean that he was Raymond's father. Raymond's father would tell you who it was, although it does look like they married in order to legitimise the birth and I would expect the name on the birth certificate to be that of her husband.

No death registration for a Synthia Marshall between 1960 and 1970.

Strange...family skeletons then? Good luck. I might keep looking to see if she's still alive. Presumably they must have got divorced, so perhaps she married someone else,.. or *she* died.

Martin

You need to buy some certs!

If you want to buy a BMD cert, heres how and here
is the addy where you can buy it online... (copy n paste the following...)

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

(tip)Never pay more than £7
(another tip) for a marriage, you only need
put one partners name when ordering.

If you are ordering online from the GRO,
make sure that when the form asks
"Is the full GRO reference known?"
that you tick the "yes" box.

Nighty night all :-))
