My son got married in a replica village of that era and stayed in Ann Hathaways Cottage on his Honeymoon night. Reception was there too.It was so pretty the photos were fantastic. We had some done in Black and White too

Sounds lovely, Jackie. I love going to Stratford, apart from all the tourists! It's about half an hour's drive from here.

I have been to Stratford on Avon many years ago.
Trying to think where I lived at the time. It was where Max Bygraves lived as we used to see him in the local shop. There is a famous zoo there also. Only there for a little while though. It just won't come to me

WhackyJackieInOz Report 12 Jan 2009 15:36

Was it Chessington Zoo that rings a bell

Liz

Liz Report 12 Jan 2009 15:38

Could be Chessington, just south west of London.

I've never been.

WhackyJackieInOz Report 12 Jan 2009 15:39

Can't remember the name of the town this is silly.
It was 46 years ago though and I've slept since then lol

What town is closest to Chessinton Liz do you know?
Edit
Leatherhead now I remember

It has all come back to me now I was living in Redditch when I visited Stratford

There's a great museum of buildings at Bromsgrove, just near Redditch.

Think we've drifted off the subject but why not?

WhackyJackieInOz

WhackyJackieInOz Report 12 Jan 2009 16:05

I have been to Bromsgrove too.
Went out with a boy that had a motor bike and it was raining and we both fell off the bike turning a corner in Bromsgrove
Oh Happy memories lol

My first job was a Inspecting Blades for Aeroplane Engines at Bristol Siddely in Redditch. Loved the job but then my father bought a pub in Wales so we moved. Dad liked all kinds of adventures so we did move about half a dozen times lol. He then settled when he bought the pub until he came to Australia

Brought back a few memories, then.

Lived all my life in the Midlands - Rugby, Birmingham, Nuneaton. Very exciting!
