Hi Hazel, May,and Maggy :):)
Thank you for adding to the new thread :):)
Julia, the response is lovely to see, it tells me that people do enjoy this thread very much and it is always very nice to see people feeling comfortable and coming in and introducing themselves :):) I look forward to your one a little later also
Hi Joy & Maggy :)
No response from Genes as yet, could be a while, although it would also be nice to know that this new thread has their blessing and will not be deleted to, so I am hoping I get an early response so that we know how we stand :)

Hi Colin me old mucker :o) I'm maggie and live somewhere in Hampshire!! Was married, been divorced for 20 odd years. Two daughters, 3 cats and, since 30 December, 2 grandchildren. Moved around an awul lot until moving here 20 years ago.
Hi colin from Staffs:0) Didn't know we had so much in common. I have also lived in deepest Cornwall, Pompey, just outside Plymouth, though never Hong Kong - nearest I got was Malta. I am also interested in the social aspect of pubs - and not being a driver, it means I can try ALL the local brews :o)

Hello - said I'd post about meself today, so here goes. Julia, born nearly 62 yrs ago in this corner of South East Derbyshire. During and just after the war me dad was in the Navy, laterly being stationed with the Fleet, just up the Kyles of Bute, Scotland. Me mother, in her infinite wisdom, God Rest her Soul, decided that we would move to be near him. However, for at least half our stay there, he lived on board ship, and we lived in a rat ridden attic flat. So much for being near him. However, my stay there, no matter how young, inspired a love for the very bones of that country. Anything associated with it is manna from heaven as far as I am concerned, from it's history,ancestory,people,habits and customs,food,pipes, and pipebands, as well as whisky,(a tot taken before bedtime every night). We then moved back to here when dad had been demobbed for about three year, and he realised it would be hard to rear a family, because of the economy of the island od Bute. Lived in and around this area for pretty much all the time since, except a brief period in Oxfordshire. Have four very nice children (well I would say that wouldn't I), one a Legal Draftsman (costs out the price of the bill) one an Artist and Herb grower in Cornwall, on an Artist of another sort(he is loved and forgiven because he has slight brain damage due to a car accident 20yrs ago) and a Hairdresser. I have 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I like reading - Kathy Reichs,Patricia Cornwall et al, crosswords ( to keep the brain active), jigsaws(to aid the hand/wrist co-ordination to lift the tot of whisky at bed time), cookery, just love watching Jamie,Hugh F-W, and foul mouthed Gorden, and am an avid gardener along with the OH. Between us we grow all out own veggies,fruit,salad and tomatoes, on the allotment, and I look after the house gardens and about 36 hanging baskets and numerous planters. We have only one dog in residence at the moment, a black cocker spaniel, but over the years have had many breeds,including my beloved Airedales, and numerous cats, very often all at once. I bought my computer last year to look for my Turner ancestors from Whittlesey, and was glad of it during last years non-gardening season (it never stopped raining). Don't get on chat boards very often, always something wants doing, but like to read about every body. The old Navy sailor is still alive at 86. Thanks Colin for putting this thread on - it has been very heart-warming. - Julia

Hello Colin... I don't know how I have missed this thread... I am shocked that your other has been deleted.
I only recently added... I did say that I was re-inventing myself, lol, so I do hope that wasn't the reason it had to go, ;~))
~~~~~waves ~~~~ to everyone
My boardname is Daff. I started as Daffodil Ann, but it has evolved now to Daff... my hubby even calls me it sometimes when I am not paying attention to him, lol! I have been a member since May 2005, when my neighbours' daughter joined me up at the dots, lol! However, I didn't start posting on the boards until last February, when I was in dire need of some positive vibes and virtual hugs... and true to form, GR members were there right at the start!
I was born in Cardiff and lived there until my marriage. I have been married to my lovely hubby for almost 36 years, have lived overseas and in England and Northern Ireland, but have now settled back in South Wales.. Newport, Gwent area.
I have two lovely sons, and two granddaughters, aged 2 and a half and 18 months. They live away, one in Lancashire and one in Yorkshire.
Love
Daff xxx
Hi Colin, do we know why the other thread was zapped yet?
I will re-introduce myself for any new posters. Ann. Live near Gloucester, born in Hampshire, 67, married 47+ years happily. Hobbies, Family History of course, photography, card making scrap booking, walking, gardening (these two when my back allows as I suffer with lower back pain), letter writing (snail and e mail), reading. Have done counted cross stitch but don't seem to get time now. Enjoy going on holiday (retired Civil servant for 7+ years). took up golf but didn't get on with it!.
It is lovely to see the support and additions to this new thread :)
I had a mail from Genes last evening although for some reason the mail I had sent to them had some sort of small problem in it, I had been asked to resend the original which I have done and now awaiting a further reply to this.
Hopefully Genes may monitor this thread for a while now and see how lovely it is.
It is nice to say Hi to you the newer posters, always feel free to say Hi whenever you see me about the boards. and also to friends I have known a while:)
Karen, you are just accross the water from me :)
Thanks Everyone :)
