I live in the beautiful Maine et Loire region with lots of dogs, cats, sheep, a goat, hens and ducks-- and my lovely husband :))))

Hi everyone. Like yourselves, I too liked that thread very much. The only problem I could see, albeit a slight one, is some peeps telling a lot of personal details about themselves. That isn't a criticism, but that innocent act could be abused.
Or, as you say, it might have been deleted by accident; easily done.

Margaret

Margaret Report 14 Jan 2008 15:54

Hi Colin - as it was me who first brought to general notice that the lovely thread which I had bookmarked had disappeared, I think it only fair that I put my info on again. As can be seen by my board name I am Margaret from Midlands - Warwickshire to be exact. I am another oldie I'm afraid approaching my 68th birthday. I have one son who lives in Northamptonshire and two grandchildren, girl 14, boy 11. I used to breed and show dogs (yorkshire terriers) but don't do it now - far too expensive. I have one yorkie as a pet, she is called Tuppence. I am an avid reader particularly crime novels, love my genealogy and still go tap dancing lessons once a week. I do not travel much these days but have in the past been to America and Jamaica. I would love to see Australia (have relatives there) but could not face the long flight. That's it for now.

Welcome to all the newbies. It is lovely to have a chat on here and hear all the differing points of view.

Karen in the desert Report 14 Jan 2008 15:08

Hi Colin,
Loved your Introduce Yourself thread.
I sincerely hope it was deleted in error and not for any other reason. It would be great to see it reappear!!

If it doesn't reappear then I'll introduce myself again for anyone who doesn't already 'know' me......
....my name says it all really - I'm Karen and I live in the desert, with my hubby. I get home to the UK a couple of times per year...home being on the Monmouthshire/Gloucestershire border, I can just see the old Severn Bridge from my window.

I like coming on GR for some light-hearted banter, and a laugh, whenever I can, although sometimes I have to remind myself to get on with my tree, so I go over to Tips Board too.

Hello Tina, nice to 'meet' you, and don't be shy - we were all in the same boat once!

Hello to you all
I have not posted on here very much, but I read Colin's thread many times over the holiday period, dipping in and out. I enjoyed all of it. It was funny, witty, poignant and inoffensive, and above all it was voluntary and not compulsory.People were free to tell us as much about themselves as they wanted, and, not that for one moment am I saying it was not true, how do we know it was. For instance ,I, or anyone else, could have said, I emulated my grandmother and had ten children over twenty years. Who reading it knows if this is true.So it is up to the writer to put what they wanted to tell us. It was totally light-hearted banter, and entertaining, and I don't see how it should have been removed. Good on you Colin for the feel-good factor it generated. Tina - I'm glad I'm not the only Derbyshire person on Genes, I am about six miles from you. Now some kind sole get out a map and compass and draw a circle.............
