Catherine in a few weeks/months you will look back & think "thank heavens it happened when she was home & not in school".
When my daughter "grew up" I went out & bought some chocs & we stuffed our faces getting hormonal together.

I remember it well but I was fourteen! happened in school - had to borrow my best friends mac to wear home and ran all the way home to tell my Mum - I was so excited!!? My young sister asked my Mum on the quiet "Is Ann having a baby?"

we have had a nice afternoon cuddled up on the couch eating choccies and watching grease and me regailing her with stories of behind the gym at school with me and me mates 'playing' grease-she found it all very amusing-yes your right I'm glad she was not at school-just still was a shock-

she's growing so much it's unbelieveable and I think it made me realise she's not a baby anymore-I mean what 11 yr olds are in size 8-10 womens clothes and size 7 feet-look about 15 and eats like a horse-she's about 5ft 5 already.

I'll be grey by the time she does get 15-

I was about ten years old and getting ready for a swimming certificate!!

I did not believe it, and took a while to tell my mum.

then to cap it all, I heard my dad telling mummy that he had fixed it with the swimming instructor............ he had TOLD HIM WAHT WAS WRONG!!!
and I could take the certificate next week....

I never took it.... I was so humiliated!

I was so humiliated. It took me many years to accept that my dad had a right to know.

But not the swimming instructor! ;-0(

She will be fine and everything will fall into place.
If ever she needs to explain... you will do the right thing and save her blushes.

when my friends daughter started....she just gave her a wee make up type bag which could "hold" things in it and could be transported very discreetly......I dont think my pal made any mention at the school about it but then the swimming term was over.....so I guess there wasnt much need to say anything.....Once they're back at school maybe if she ends up suffering cramps and stuff it mite be worth a wee wink to her teacher...

sorry just to add.....pretty much I'd leave it up to your daughter as to what she is comfortable with....it may turn out that she asks you to say something....or it may be that she just simply sails through the whole episode!!

I was just 12 Catherine in my 1st year at seniors and my Mum tried to persuade me to use one of those horrid belts, no chance!!!

I hope Amy feels ok, bless her. Beth started a month after her 13th birthday. We were out in the Lakes and she came out of the loos beaming about it. Now its been 18 months shes not so chuffed lol
