Thank You from the bottom of my heart for adding to this thread this year.

Those of you who have suffered in similar circumstances and know the heartache that is caused I send ((((((Big Hugs )))))))) today, its something that never goes away and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My own personal campaign has been going on for many years and something I feel so strongly about. Paul was more of a brother to me, having stayed with us on and off since he was a very young baby. He had a lovely singing voice for his age and had been out carol singing that night with his older brother. He was a 100 yards from coming home he never made it.

If Pauls death can save the life of one other person or save one other member of a family or friends from going through a lifetime of heartache and pain then I always feel there was a reason for this. His memory lives on.

Thank You Everyone

Colin

what people dont remember is that its all very well leaving the car at home and getting drunk then taking a cab home....what the idiots forget is they are still drunk eight hours later when they get in the car the next morning to go to work

I was in the police service for a short time before I joined the navy and the sight of the victims of drink drivers are etched in my memory forever. We had a good campaign here a couple of years ago..

''Four Pints, One Car, One mistake = 2 years'' on a poster with the picture of a cell door.

Thinking of you Col and of course little Paul

I did it when younger and stupid, but luckily I never had an accident. Now I would never drink and drive, it is so unnecessary, and I think anyone who does so, and causes any accident, should not be allowed to drive again. The waste of life just because a person isn't adult enough to forgo alcohol is unjustifiable.
Colin, my thoughts go to you and Paul's family. May he rest in peace.

Dear all,
My thoughts go out to you all who have suffered because of drink drivers, My hubby and I were the victim of a drunken driver 30years ago,(when we were young) we had broken bones and scars.....without wishing to moan, as we get older those injurys ache more and more, I am on painkillers all the while. but least I am still here!!!! but my life was altered drastically because of someone elses stupidity..............
anyone caught drinking and driving should face stiffer penaltys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes Colin.

We have very tough laws in Aus. for drink driving.

Our freeways and highways are littered with very large billboards that read in large lettering.

"DRINK AND DRIVE then you are a BL**DY IDIOT "

Very crude perhaps!!.....Straight to the point maybe.!!but hopefully the message gets across, and is there for all to read who use our roads. If it saves one life, then the message is worth it.

I was first really aware of the dangers of drink driving when i was 17 some lads decided to take the risk after a night out in a club near me, i was in the bus laid on by the club which found the car vertical in a hedge. What i saw that night has never left me.
