eRRolSheep Report 4 Dec 2007 22:50

No please don't use System Restore!
Think of just one of the missing files that you accessed recently be a picture, a text document or whatever then let me know what sort of file it is.

No worries about being patient!

Susan Report 4 Dec 2007 22:46

I haven't looked at any pictures lately, the last was paint and those images are in a file that didn't disappear.

thank you for being so patient.

shall I try another system restore.

ok think of the last photograph you looked at and the software you used to view it. Open that piece of software from your Start menu and then if you click on the File menu (top left) that last photograph you viewed should be listed there so select it and see if it opens.

The folders that have disappeared from your desktop - what did they contain?

Susan

Susan Report 4 Dec 2007 22:34

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 4 Dec 2007 22:29

Well you can always see what happens but I don't think it would solve your problem. Did you see my last question about the last file you opened/viewed and what software was used?

Susan

Susan Report 4 Dec 2007 22:28

findmypast

Susan

Susan Report 4 Dec 2007 22:20

Susan

Susan Report 4 Dec 2007 22:17

It's just some Dee - or at least that is my understanding. Good tip though!

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 4 Dec 2007 22:12

Did they disappear at the precisely the moment you uninstalled deja vu?
What was the last file you opened and/or worked on from the missing folders and what software did you use (ie Word etc)?

I know this sounds silly, and I'm not sure if you have lost all the icons on your desktop or just some..but if all of them have somehow disappeared have you tried right clicking on your desktop and going to "arrange items by" and checking that you have the option "show desktop icons" ticked?

eRRolSheep Report 4 Dec 2007 21:57

The answer from daniweb is quite correct in that it could be a corrupt registry key.

Susan

Susan Report 4 Dec 2007 21:57
