Spooky, spooky Halloween!!

yes believe that someone is around (maybe the Irish genes in me) I quite often feel a presence or see something out of the corner of my eye, but is it a ghost or is it a guardian angel???

I went to a clairvoiant several years ago and she told me that I was looking for my Grandad, which I was, and that he was telling her to tell me not to he was happy where he was it was beautiful and he had trees around him. My Grandad was killed at the age of 23, 2 months before my mum was born (1923). I was worrying about where he was buried, we were told he was buried in Glasnevien but newspaper announcements at the time said he was in Finglass, but nither have any record of his burial. So its still a mistery but hey........... I know he's around!

many yrs ago we had a dog and it had distemper, it was very pourly so i stayed with it all night, i fell asleep on the soffa[facing the back] and i felt something or someone sit by me, when i plucked up the courage to look there was nothing there!

another one was, don't know if i was dreaming or what! but it was so real---it was my dad [he died when i was 14] he sat on the side of my bed and said "look after your mum for me" and then he started to go away, and i could see him going towards this bright light down a tunnel--that's what it looked like--and all the time i was crying as i did'nt want him to go, but he got further and further away untill he had vanished! that was many yrs ago too.

another was just last year, i was tracing my Granddads side of my tree, and one night i was sat at my PC, and all of a sudden the cats litter tray flew up in the air, i saw it come down as tho it was floating and rocking, now you would expect the litter to scatter eveywhere would'nt you? not so! it just went into a tidy heap!! and the next day i was alone in the house and i had just got up, my son had brought me a cup of tea in bed, i went into the bathroom and left the cup on the window ledge on the landing, while i was in the bathroom i heard the cup scraping on the window ledge as if it was being moved, i thought it was the cat going to knock it on the floor, so i went to get it before it hit the floor, but no! it was neatly in the corner of the top stair and it was standing! not knocked over! the cat was'nt in sight! and my son had gone out to get a paper!! eerie or what! think there must be something Granddads family don't want me to find out!! LOL!!!!

seen them and tried to communicate with them

mediums at spiritualist churches are the people to see to communicate effectively.

we have someone or something sharing this house. Quite often I will go to bed only to find that one side of the matteress at the bottom is wet! I've gone through blaming the kids and the dogs, even put newspaper ontop of the covers just incase the ceiling was leaking but the covers are NEVER disturbed neither is the newspaper.
a couple of months ago my oh turned over in bed( where I'd just been laying) only to have an old sewing needle stick in his arm.
I've got to the point now where the neighbours must think I've lost it, I stand on the landing and shout at what ever it is, to stop messing or I'll charge it rent!

A few years ago when I worked at Seaham Hall (when it was a nursing home - it's now a very posh hotel)
I once saw a shadow out of the corner of my eye, through a mirror. When I turned there was nothing there so I just dismissed it. A couple of weeks later a member of staff told me about another member of staff who had seen a face behind her in the same mirror. (I hadn't mentioned what I had seen).
There were supposed to be other things, such as elderly resisdents saying that a nurse in old fashioned dress had been in to see them in the night (the place had previously been a chest hospital from the 1940's to 70s or thereabouts).
I wonder if the ghosts are still there, I bet they don't put it in their brochures.
I've really enjoyed reading the stories on this thread. Ta.

When I lived in the flat upstairs, my OH and I often saw shadows out of the corners of our eyes, my OH more than me, but one day he was just staring at the wall, and laughing nervously. When I asked him what was the matter, he said he could see a woman standing there, wearing a long dress and a hat, but he couldnt see her feet. Then she apparently turned and walked right through the wall.

Now this building was a purpose built block of flats built in the 1930's to house medical staff from the small hospital at the back of us, but before then, somewhere on the site, was a lodge, and the woods next to us was part of the grounds. There is a dog called patch buried there in 1885, with a little headstone marking the spot. I think the floor might have been lower then, and that might be why he couldnt see her feet.

Since moving downstairs, directly under our old flat, we have never see a shadow or anything else eerie or odd, although this flat does not use the communal entrance that the other 6 do, we have our own door at the side of the building, it has always felt a separate place altogether. I have a feeling that this part of the building may have been on the 'outside' of the previous lodge.

Hi TW have many more stories .
You may like this one, before moving to Scotland we lived in Cornwall for a short time, adn I stayed on a farm with the children until hubby joined me, we stayed with friends that had just brought this farm near Falmouth oh it was a lovely old house around about 16 hundreds I think, it had lot of hiddy holes and things, any way one night I woke up to see a young girl about 3 or 4 walking into the bedroom, then she walked passed the bed and trought the wall.
Next morning I spoke to the ady next door and she said that there had been a outbreak of chicken pox and a little girl had died there. A little while later they took down the wall and found this childs bedroom just as it was when she died. I think she died approx 1800s

Wow thats lovely Bell, I have a feeling that most sightings are our loved ones watching over us. I know it was with my Grandfather and his writing desk.

This is one on the most interesting things I have read in a very long time.
I am a great beleiver, and I have seen quite a few, will tell you the best one I think.
Had not long known OH and he had asked me to marry him, well having to young children did not knowq what to do, so said I would think about it. to cut long story short son woke up crying so up the stairs and sitting on the bed was a teenager with blonde hair and blue print shirt. He faded away as I entered the room, all my son said was brother.
Went down stairs and asked if OH had a son he said that he had died as a teenager in Australia. he discribed him to me and it was his son looking over my family and he had done to this day 22 years later.

We are so conditioned by our science-based education of the Western World, and the handed-down philosophy of our predecessors (the two often at odds) that that we regard the universe as more simple and material than it is. A different concept in the face of such brain-conditioning is very difficult to entertain. It is an interesting fact that those having the necessary intellect, learning and open-mindedness are not psychiatrists or theologians but engineers, astro-physicists and the like. It has to be acknowledged that the driving motive behind such minds is not always so much as to support, but more often to investigate in order to disprove. Then they find 'there is more to heaven and earth than meets the eye'. Investigation and experiment invariably lead to mind-boggling conclusions resulting in them being won over. There are too many to quote here. A.J.Ellison, Emeritus Professor of Engineering and Head of Department at the City University London was in no doubt that not only does the paranormal exist but that it can be demonstrated and observed by the strict protocols of modern science. For those interested there are many published scientific papers available online, detailing and endorsing paranormal activity, but these are often couched in scientific language which can be hard for the layman to comprehend. The emerging science of quantum mechanics itself verges on the paranormal.

The negative opinion voiced by some is called 'pathological disbelief'. There are those capable of saying 'Even if it was true, I wouldn't believe it'. They wouldn't believe in neutrinos, either. Len

I am not sure about ghosts - but a freind of mine had a Medium around one night and we all had a reading - everyone was really stunned even the non believers with her accuracy. I was last to go in and was rather bolstered by the views of my freinds as they came down and was expecting great things.... ...unfortuantly I couldnt connect at all - she was telling me about things that didnt ring true in any shape or form an elderly woman she described quite clearly - animals (I have rescued all my life) that I could make no connection with and she was adamant I had a brown leather sofa I should not move as I was going to hurt my back and she was really worried about it (I have long dreamed of a leather suit but have made do with an old green fabric one and new I couldnt afford a new one). As I say non of it connected with me and I can be quite a closed person. After about 15 mins she said the reading wasnt working and insisted I did not pay her a penny. I was rather dissapointed but fair do's she didnt take my money. About six months later I mentioned this to an eldest sister who was convinced the woman I described was my Grandmother in middleage. Being younger I only remember her in old age or pictures of her in her youth but my sister showed me a photo where the woman had a similar appearance to the woman desribed that I had never seen before. My sister also then told me about a pet she kept before I was born that also tallied up. Finally I had at last saved enough money to redecorate my from and get new carpets at the begining of this year, but alas not enough money for a modern suit. Out of the Blue a freind in the next rd called me one night - Do you want my brown leather suite (It was only 2 years old)...I need to get rid of it by tomorrow as I have a new one coming. The offer was too good to refuse and I still dont know what to make of the Medium... but my freind and I sat down with a glass of wine each while the Husbands sorted out getting out my old suit and bringing hers in - we warned them the Medium said I would seriously hurt my back if I moved my brown leather Sofa!
