I really feel for you, I had to have my oldest cat Whiskey put down 2 years ago, he was 18 and It broke my heart, Then 3 weeks ago my other cat came home with a limp tail and vet said it was dislocated, they were not sure whether they would have to put her down as the nerves for her 'fucntions' may have been damaged, After 10 days of going through every emotion possible and daily visits to the vet her nerves had returned. Now we have one very happy cat minus her tail which they couldn't save. I still desperatly miss Whiskey but try to tell myself that we gave him as much joy as he gave us. Keep your chin up and remember the good times.

I went to bed about 1am this morning. My cat woke me at 3am for no other reason than to to have a bit of conversation. Not being able to sleep afterwards, I got up about 4, made a hot drink and took it back to bed where I sipped it and read for a bit. Got to sleep about 5. At 8am, who sat on my chest and gently whispered miaow until I woke. Yes, she is completely unharmed.

I am Zeus - a very handsome and striking red tabby - known by commoners as 'ginger'. I have just succeeded in causing mayhem in the hosue I am occupying by catching a very feathery and boastful pigeon, despatching it, on the kitchen floor, eating its breast (only), and then liberally spreading ALL its feathers around the area. There was quite a lot of feathers..... and blood. And it seems they were expecting people for supper (not pigeons) - and it all had to be cleared up. And the Dyson objected, saying too many feathers!!. They said I looked smug, sitting amid the carnage - and threw me out! They did say I am still beautiful, but I am a pain. Praps if I was fed more cream i would not stalk pigeons.....or even mice.

Hello my name is Misty. I am a long haired ginger/grey tabby puss, too posh really to be living on a farm, but I love it! All the open space and all the animals, much better place than where I was rescued from. I'm one of the cats that has to live with Kate (from Dogs! messages) and her sister Molly and their mummy Kim. I love going into the fields and chasing about with Kate and Molly and then running up a tree so they can't catch me - hehe. I thought I would just let all you other felines know of a wonderful sleeping place I have just found - human mum has been on the computer for quite a while and no matter how much I meowed she would not move off MY chair, so I am lying full length on top of the monitor with my tail flicking now and then across the screen and peeping occasionally to see if I am annoying her - its not working yet, but I will keep trying! after all it is my chair. Spoilt or what - Mistyxx p.s. there's no mouse up here either!

Jaws here. Sorry, I'm just not going to be available today. You see, this is the first sunny day we've had in a LONG time, and I'm taking advantage of it. Agghhh, don't you just LOVE sitting in the sun? My mum won't allow me to go outside, as we live on a busy road. So, I have to catch my rays wherever and whenever I can. I've heard woofs around here, but I've never seen one of those creatures up close. I'm mainly interested in the hummingbirds. They drive me nuts. We do have a couple of blue jays that mum feeds and they kind of bother me too. You see, one of them lands in our apple tree that is close to the kitchen window and waits for mum to give him some nuts. Mum laughs at me when the bird lands in the tree and I'm sitting on the window sill -- just because I scruntch really low on the sill, and my ears go flat. I've been away from my windowsill far too long. Time to go back and get warm. Happy New Year to everyone. PS Hi there goldfish. I've never seen you guys up close, either. I'm afraid of most things, so hope you aren't too ferocious!

Alaina, Other things to try: 1) More than one litter tray. My cat will only use each tray once until it is scooped. Consequently, I have 3 or 4 boxes. 2) Get the vet to check for a urinary tract infection. 3) Get him neutered if he isn't already. Don't punish him. He won't understand what you're doing and it will stress him out even more. Good luck, Crista

Hi ALFIE. It's me, Jaws. My mum can't help too many people on this site, cause we don't live in the UK, but I sure can help you. Don't they just get unreasonable when you happen to wet the carpet? HONESTLY, you would think the world was falling apart by the way they rant and rave. Anyway, I've had that problem in the past, and actually, in the present. Mum has done a lot of research on it (I keep telling her to stick to her family tree research, but she won't listen). Apparently, when us kittys are under stress, we show our feelings by wetting the carpet. Alfie, did you wet any carpets before you moved in with those people? If not, mum thinks the move is the reason you are doing it now. (My mum's mum adopted an older cat and she hid for the first several months! Sometimes it takes us kittys awhile to warm up to new surroundings.) If you've always had a problem then I can help with that, too. First of all, tell your new mum and dad to clean the area you've wet, then clean it with a bit of vinegar (test the area first though, cause sometimes it changes the carpet colour!). A carpet man told that trick to one of mum's friends. The vinegar neutralizes the smell and we probably won't go back there. Tell those people to watch out though, cause you may go somewhere else. Another thing my mum has done is lay newspaper down, cause I REALLY don't like walking on the newspaper too much. And, it's not as much fun to wet a newspaper as it is to wet the soft carpet. (I just have one area of the dining room that I have chosen as my soft kitty litter.) Have your parents tried changing your cat litter? Mum found out most of my problem was that I didn't like the feel of the cat litter she started using. I'm a good girl now (most of the time), just cause she changed brands of cat litter. Some kitties REALLY hate a dirty box too, so they may have to change it all the time, instead of what regular kitties prefer. Lastly, have they given you enough attention? Cause us cats like to be noticed sometimes and we sometimes like quiet. Is it noisy there? Are there any loud short people (children). She's heard that sometimes we need to be pampered (don't you just love those chin rubs?). Anyway, since your new parents don't seem to appreciate the spots you have picked out as your kitty box, they might try some of the ideas I've mentioned, as they've all worked for mum. Good luck with your new family. I know it was hard for me when I moved in, too. Psssssssstttt - BILL and ROY: The reason I got adopted is cause the kitty who lived here for 19 years was very, very sick and mum was SO upset when she went away. "Monique" was a very nice kitty -- I'm sure she has shown Whiskey all the great places to play and has properly introduced all of her playmates to your kitty.

If the cat is going to the toilet in the same place everytime try buying a cat mess deoderiser spray from pet shops..................it worked for me when i had 9 kittens(two cats had kittens within days of each other) to try and train. Thing is you might not smell 'the scent' but a cat can smell its own scent no matter how much you clean the floor/carpet after it. Hope this helps debbi
