No legs yet and they are coming up to two months old

Still no sign of any legs!! Any one else?

Rick I think one of your frogs must have turned up at mine last night, I opened my front door to put some rubbish out and one was sitting on my front door step staring at me! - I wasnt sure if it was my prince in disguise and if it was waiting for me to kiss it, but it saw my cat and hopped off before I had a chance to decide if to kiss it or scream at it :-)

Nudged up for Naomi ! Looked tonight and could only see a few, but iI think they dive for cover when its about to rain - which it did. Still no legs ! Rick.

My brother used to have a town garden with 3 ponds in it. He said that, this time of year, it was like a beach party out there, or else a bit like Club Tropicana if you can remember the video!

I saw a mass exedus of frogs once in a local country park wierdest sight ever hundreds and hundreds of the little b****s crosing a road way and we were doing a sponsored walk along said road , it was really quite funny to see every body doing this strange dance along the road trying to miss all the little green bodies crossing it. apparently it is a migratory thing and happens in other places but not usually visible on such a large scales as we saw that day, as the walk had been organised by a local church group though you can imagine the comments on raining plagues of frogs etc. Still it gave us all somthing to talk about after when we all trudged wearily off to the local watering hole(pub that is as opposed to pond I might add)to recover from the 20mile walk. luv Victoria

Reading this thread reminded me of when me and my brother were about 8 years old, we decided to get some frogspawn - cant remember where from as we didnt have a pond! anyway we put the frogspawn in a big icecream tub and as my mum is scared of frogs we put the tub in the greenhouse. yep you guessed it, 2 weeks later we remembered about them. OPPS!

Hi Rick, I've not got a pond in my garden but get frogs galore as there is a river and ponds straight out from my back garden. The thing is I am terrified of them (I know it's irrational!!). One day there was even one swimming around in my downstairs loo, god knows how it got there. I just slammed the lid down and got one of the kids from the street to remove it as I couldn't bear to flush it away.

What I wouldn't give to have frogs.We have had a pond for about 11 yrs but decided to have a raised one.This was due to the fact that our daughter was getting married and we worried about furure grandchildren.five grandchildren and about 90 fish later still no frogs. Lynn

Forgot to say there is an organisation called FROGLINE which will assist with queries on frogs.

Rosie - get rid of the blanket weed - it is lethal and fish can become tangled in it and die - it catches around the gills. Beware of very large quantities of frogspawn - your fish can gorge on it and die - we lost 3 very large (12") three years ago and could not understand it - until we found out the reason from experts. Clear ponds - plenty of oxygenating plants and plants such as lilies to give cover - it also helps if the pond is not in full sun all day.

Update: I was quite worried yesterday as I couldn't see a single one on the surface of the pond. They must have been hiding from the bad weather as they're all back today! They have grown to about an inch long - still legless though (the tadpoles I mean).

Hi June, You were up early ! I used Algorem by Tetraclear. You do get some dead clumps of algae floating on the top afterwards, but it's easy to scoop out (taking care not to catch tadpoles though). It says it's harmless to fish. Found a 1 inch long frog under a brick by the pond earlier. Must be one of last years I guess. At least one of them made it ! Rick.

Rick, sun shinning today so together withyoungest daughter decided to clear out the pond. Didn't get very far, hundreds of tadpoles so left well alone. Will wait until they've grown little legs and then try again.

Put some stuff in the water yesterday to zap the algae. It's crystal clear now & there are loads of the little chaps swimming around. Rick.
