It's soooooooooooo cold tonight - Jan's nose is freezing :-)) Think we might need to snuggle up in bed early so we'll bid you goodnight for now. Rick.xx

Afternoon all. What have you all been up to today? Margeret, You have had me puzzled ever since you mentioned your Brother in Law made the Finger Post in Pelsall. I kept thinking "She's pulling my leg here" The Finger Post I know is hundreds of years old. Well I have tried for ages to get a picture of it on the internet. When did they put that new one up? Where is the old wooden one? The name Allsopp rings a bell. Sure there were some at my school in Brownhills. Catch you all later, Tara a bit. Jenny

Born in Aston District, way back in 1923, left dear old Brum in 1958. Have lived in Blackburn, Oswaldtwistle, and Burnley, I may have lost my accent but not my Brummie heritage,I may be an old fogie, but, I still like a joke!!! LLOL TO YOU ALL Must away now as Lady Mary has just put the Kettle on, she says she can't afford a maid on the salary H.R.H June pays us(The old skinflint), no wonder she had to pawn some of her jewels, She is never away from the shops.(TITTER) My tea has now arrived so I must drink it or I will be in the dog house again. So with fondest love to one and all, its goodbye for now, from Lord Jim and Lady Mary C ttfn see you all soon, and I DO MEAN ALL.

Good evening 8.10 here in Perth Jim I live in Swan View near the hills I used to live in Glen Forest not far from the John Forest National Park. We used to live in Kambalda {Nickel mining} and Kalgoorlie {Gold Mining} in the Eastern Goldfields my children were born and brought up there. After 17 years we went to Marvel Loch and Southern Cross gold mining of cause. The places were known as Marvelous Loch and Suffering Cross. We had the house in Perth to go to about every three weeks. Country people are so friendly and helpful we use to have people calling in all times of the day and night. We knew we could do the same and be welcomed. When I first came out here and met my husband we went to Ravensthorpe {copper mining} To a city girl that was a culture shock, but I have met many good friends from all over in these places. Enjoyed Kalgoorlie very hot and dry heat in summer freezing in winter on the edge of the desert minus degrees sometimes. Usually in country towns you must play tennis and football australian rules to meet people and the good old Country Womens Association. Wonderful association! Plus the hotel not quite like our pubs, oh! i forgot the lawn bowls very popular. I Played Badminton but my kids were in all types of sports. Now I play bridge I think I would break a leg if I played badminton again, to tired after work. Kindest regards Pam

Hello Chrissy, Glad to hear your team won. Its strange you saying about Brum with the pace of life being too quick. When we first moved to Wigston. Leicestershire. It was very odd to me it seemed like every one here was dead. You did not see very many people about and when it came to 9 pm at night, they were all off to bed. At the time we had our daughter who was only 11 months old and I did feel so a loan. But there you go. Even the bus service was terrible. You had to wait half an hour for a bus to come along and one service this was 1 hour wait. But being a city girl I was used to jumping on a bus every five mins. I also missed all the large shops and going into the old Bullring My husband he missed all the Yorkshire Dales and all the nice walks in open spaces, As its very flat here. He still loves to get up on the Moors when we go up there to see his family. Most of them are in Skipton but his older sister lives in Shipley. Glad you came back onto the site and I hope you will stay with us. Tat Tar June.

Hubby a bit blue tonight as city only drew at least they got a point but have to say they should have beaten Norwich,at least my team won. JIM. I was in the Wraf in 1959 had a brilliant time that's where i met hubby. I was born in Halifax but mum and i moved to N.Devon when i was about 4. Yes i did meet some lovely people when we lived in Brum but it was the place i wasn't happy with not the people the pace of life was too quick and people didn't seem to have much space in their lives plus with hubby's job the girls and myself hardly saw him being a country girl at heart and young i found it very difficult but stuck it out until he changed his job and we moved to Kent . Chrissy.

Used to live right by the Finger Post" and did some bar work at the Old House at Home. Blimey that must have been in 1978. A lot of water gone under the bridge since then. Good afternoon My minions. Lord Jim here. Thank you for the honour you have graciously accorded me, Your Royal Highness June Of Brum. It has made me very proud(Whats the pay like)HAHA,. Welcome to Kate, Pat, and Pam, I am the court Jester on this site, an honour bestowed upon me with no justification. I am an old wrinkley of 81, and am of no further use to you youngsters. You know what they say Theres no fool like an old fool and I am pleased to be one. They also say the mind is willing but the flesh is weak, and that I am afraid is also true. Mind you some of the things that the ladies talk about still make me blush, thats because I am only 18 in mind. Pam Where abouts in Perth do you live? I have a sister living in Westminster( used to be Nullamara). Marg Whats this about a strong man? I am available to you but only for light duties, you know, Light the fire, put the Lights on, change a Light Bulb, anything light. I am strong enough to break a spider web if necessary.Did I hear a little Titter( I was the original little TITTER running Through the audience) OH Happy days, never felt better. STOP you cry Go no further, spare our blushes. (Jim ! SHUT UP) Now June on a serious note, your idea seems to have worked two fold, not only is it quicker, at least for now, we seem to have enlisted a few more very welcome friends. I wish we could get a few more men, I feel out on a limb at the moment, not that I am complaining, but a bit of competition would not come amiss. (Reading back, on what I have written I will still have to take the soup!!!!) In joke folks. June will answer any quieries. LLOL Dee Congratulations --you have cracked it, We all said you could if you were determined enough. Maybe we helped a bit. Do you remember saying one time that you were near the beach? I asked where abouts but you have not replied. I am only being nosey but, as you know thats me all over!! Here is a little funny for you---, Alittle girl was given a watch and some scent for her birthday and was driving her mother mad talking about it all the tine. Now,as the Vicar was coming to the party the Mother told her daughter that she was not to mention the watch or the scent. Tea time arrived, the little girl sat next to the Vicar and said " If you hear something and smell something It's only me!" Time and Tide Waits for no man, So it is time I was Away to the Woods. So from Lord Jim And Lady Mary LLOL(TITTER, TITTER)
