Pamela Report 5 Dec 2004 08:26

Hello can anyone help me please? I have decided to place a do you know add in a Birmingham paper. Which paper would be best? I have been trying to find my fathers sister she most likely would be dead by now. But she married and I remember a son. Trouble is I remember her as Aunty Dorothy I could be wrong. I cannot place her married name. My father Leslie Oakley died 1978. So after going through lots of names and years and getting now where. I thought I would try this I am in Australia, so all would be on line. Anyway it is 4.10pm here so I am off to weed and tidy garden , then put the decorations up. With a bit of luck relatives and friends in Uk will get a xmas card before xmas. We will be at my daughters for xmas day it will be very hot and the kids and adults will be in the pool. I as usual will take the turkey. When it was suggested last year to have everything cold what a horrified look came on my son in law and my son. We still have lots of cold food but with aircondioning we love the xmas turkey. My granddaughters saw snow when they were in Scotland recently. My son and daughter were born over here, and they saw snow march 82 when we came for a visit unfortunately both my parents were deadby then. I still think of xmas day looking out on the only print on the snow is liitle bird prints. Must go my daughter is trying to get a baby Bandicoot out of the house. They are the most cute little things like a large hump rat. In the Mundaring area there a lots in the gardens especially where there is dense shrubs. They are native animals to Western Australia no trouble. Cats are the pest chase them and sometimes they fall in the pool and cannot get out. I was watering my friends garden when they were away. So at dusk I was driving there when a large Kangeroo bounced out of someones garden did a dance on the bonnet of my car and off to the national park. I will not tell you what I called it. Did a lot of damage. Regards Pam

I must admit the tree looks lovely :-))))))) Well day 4 of advent callendar today and I got a christmas pudding chocolate in mine (yummmmy). Please no-one ask me what I got yesterday as I was too poorly to eat chocolate so Rick managed to eat it - yes from that you can decide who was really poorly!! Have done loads of my tree (family) this week and a load of ricks too - if any of you on here need a look up on 1871 - 1891 or 1901 census let me know :-)))) Anyway will stop rambling take care all Love Jan xx p.s Jim - rick is older than me too :-)))))))))))))))

Hello everyone ! Hope you all haven't got the nasty cold that Jan and I have gone down with :-( We were supposed to go out for a curry with friends last night but had to stay in the warm instead. That did mean that we got the tree decorated and despite it looking bigger day by day I have to say it looks lovely. Full marks to Jan for artistic direction (lol - tasteful silver and gold theme) and to me for the manual labour. And yes June guess who had to go out in the cold to get the decorations lolol. Dee - now our tree is up it's time to write the cards and finish off the shopping. I like to get everything finished well before Xmas even though Jan laughs at me for it. Jim - we're fine apart from our colds thank you. The tree is in the middle of the bay window in the front room and it's so big it makes it very difficult to open and close the curtains, but of course I'm being extra careful :-))))))) Rick.xx

Hello Fellow Brummies I am back in form to-day, well almost. Please take most of what I said about Xmas with a pinch of salt. I enjoy the Festive season as well as the next man, but in my own way. We enjoy each others company still even after 60 years. June Yes as you will now know I got your Email ok. It reminded me of the silent film days at the ERA cinema on the corner of Churchill Rd and Bordesley, I can still hear the piano accompanument. (Have I spelt that right? No it should be an I not a U, Brain fag again) Jenny I have been looking back at the thread and I am sorry if you feel neglected. If I missed you out with a welcome I can only apologise and hope you will keep on with us. Where did you get the name MOMMYLONGLEGS from. Is is you? Do your legs go right up and keep your feet on the ground?. OOHER I have come all over uneccesary, blushing to my roots. You see I am a very shy person at heart.(Who said and the rest?) Jan & rick How are my adopters to-day? I see you are having fun with your tree. Mind where you put it, Rick we don't want any accidents. I am sorry I am late in reporting in but I have had a bit of a problem to solve in this modern world we live in. I am still struggling to find bits and pieces on my pc, when I do I can't remember how I got there and have to start all over again. Thank goodness for all my friends and fellow Brummies for keeping me from going completely GAGA. LLOL to ALL our friends from Ancient Jim & Mary. PS Mary is older than me, I am her toy boy. She was born in March 1923 and I was born in August 1923(Please do not tell her will you)

Well I have cooled down a bit now, after my disasterous couple of days. It is annoying though, after getting writers cramp, in my typing finger to find it has all gone to , I don't know where.Ah well worse things happen at sea. So how are you all ? Panicking over Xmas? Me I don't enjoy it half as much these days, and neither does Mary. Not the same once the children have grown up and gone their own ways. Don't get me wrong, I am not an old misery guts any more than Mary is, but Xmas , to us, has become more of a commercial time than the Magic of Christmas Time. Our big worry is what to get our offspring when they have more than we ever had. The world has gone a bit haywire somewhere along the way. One thing is All my greetings to you all are a sincere wish for better times to come. So from a grumpy old man and a devoted wife I will say Ta Ta for to-day and catch you all to-morrow. LLOL from Jim & Mary C.
