Malc Don't understand, broadband and dial-up are mutually exclusive. If you can use the phone and internet at the same time it's broadband. If not it's dial-up.

That's it! I'm not talking to you lot anymore! I can't get it yet, boooooooooooo our phone is still on 5 digits, too faraway from the nearest exchange and I am geting really frustrated. But I don't really pay for my 24/7 dial-up as based on my call useage. So I just resign myself to the fact...............................that you lot are just rubbing my nose in it! lol Kim :-))) x

Malc That's a filter that goes onto the phone line, it will have two outlets, phone into one, computer into the other. Analogue signals come out of the phone connection. digital the other and ito the computer via the ADSL modem. Must admit we leave our computer on 24/7 connected to the broadband. We've also got a Virgin dial-up connection for a second e-mail address, but the two don't like each other and Virgin won't connect on the main computer, so we connect via a lap-top every few weeks to keep the address 'live'.
