I agree about the linking families. I have a few that do that, and although I have mine on a GedCom, it shouldn't have to be the case that you can only link using some other software.

Louise, That's a very good point. I have that problem as well and i'm reluctant to re-enter the families c x

Hi TC, I'm sure you aren't challenged at all! I'm very grateful you have hada look at the new tree. It is still in beta so it could be a bug we need to fix that your tree has highlighted. We will look into it. Thanks for the feedback on country too. Martine

I find that the fact that you can only see three generations at a time to be restrictive. OK when working up (i.e. going back in time) but tend to lose the relationships going down as only one branch is expanded to show partners and siblings at a time. Bit like looking through a keyhole. Date/place of death seems to have disappeared completely. Ditto marriage.

Well, Im living up to my name Genes team! I will have another go later. I clicked on me, then my mother then grandmother but after that there was no 'P' showing on my great grandad. As you say, Im a bit challenged, so I will go through it again slowly later. But I do think that England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales should be shown on the birth countries list please.

I like how clicking on a person takes you to their immediate relations. I think it needs a function to send you back to the 'home' person.

Hi TC, The way the builder works is that you click on someone in the tree, it centres on them and shows their parents, siblings, partner and children. So if you have clicked on your grand father (or grandmother) and want to see your great grand father's parents, you need to click on your great grand father. Does that make sense? So you can move around your tree very quickly, you just need to click up it. We'll alter the report a problem page to make it a bit more flexible. Thanks for mentioning it. Martine Genes Team

Hi, I have sent a message through that, although it didnt actually allow for that sort of general query. Do I have to start over again with GGF as the centre person to get his parents etc?

Genes Advisor Report 14 Jun 2005 10:36

Hi Totally Confused. Would you mind giving us a fuller description of the problem with your tree not showing any more parents? Could you send it to us through the report a problem tab on the builder so we can look into it a bit more and sort it out? Thanks, Martine Genes Team

Very disappointed after all this time, that there is still no way to 'link' families that have married, other than by entering everybody twice!! This has been brought up so many times over the past couple of years, and each time GR tells us that they are 'looking into it' and that it will be considered for future updates! This is the only software I have come across where this isn't possible, so it can't be that difficult surely! There is also nowhere appropriate to note this in the report a problem section. Do like the new search results layout. Nice! Debbie

Ireland is under Australia? Am I losing the plot here? There is no Eire? or N Ireland?
