Sorry, had to take the dog out for walkies and missed some of the last few posts. Thanks to all it's been a pleasure reading and responding to your thoughts and comments on this civil rights issue. Goodnight. Patty

Brian - because there are more women on these boards? Or maybe (playing Devil's Advocate) more women are open minded and comfortable with their sexuality? I know plenty of men (of all ages) who claim to be homophobic saying anal sex is wrong... yet their biggest fantasy.... you've guessed it! love becx

Pat Report 30 Jun 2005 02:16

I would like to know why Hetrosexual males are so against the actions of homosexuals? I find the same people are often the first to form this male Prison ring, yet when they are on the outside they seem to think the whole thing is disgusting?please do not tell me this is double standards? I have no time for that whatsoever, please say what you mean and mean what you say, whatever that is its cool. Pat x

For the final time tonight.... It's all about the FUTURE and myself and my peers ARE the future so be prepared! Anyones' sexual preference (be it partner or position!) does not bother me in the slightest! I respect and love my fellow humans regardless. Don't like my opinion - TOUGH! AS I've already said, we are the future.... love becx (respect to all, I might not agree with your opinion but I'd die for your right to have it!)

Patty, sorry for getting sidetracked on your thread. The civil rights bill is a step in the right direction, after all we are all human beings as bec said and at the end of the day all everybody wants is someone to share their life with, whatever sex they are. I think we are creatures of habit who need to pair up.

Patty you and me like sisters many thanks for a very enjoyable thread as this. Politically and socially, I believe in freedom of choice as long as people are happy with what they choose then repsect to them. Sheila respect to you and you have many people like me who believe we all have the same rights you should be proud of you as we all should but stick together in our beliefs which with me is of one people(human) one aim (respect and equality) one destiny (Peace and Love). To all my brothers and sisters no matter what your political, sexual persuasion is, we are all one. Respect to all x Pat x

Patty - thanks for a great thread, I really cannot wait until the day the same law/bill reaches the rest of the world. Believe me though, it will! My lot are ready to transform society! Love becx (A pioneer for the future!)

or more to the point brian, are you just against two men having anal sex?

Brian (i) Don't wish to appear rude. But this thread was intended to highlight the subject of civil rights. In particular the affordance of such to Canadian citizens by virtue of the bill just passed by Parliament. Can we keep on track. Thanks, Patty :-)

Brian (with an eye) - With all due respect, have you tried anal sex? becx

Pat - You've hit the nail on the head (AGAIN!)... it's my lot (generation) who are impacting on the world and I don't have one friend who is homophobic... we've seen the c*** that goes on in this world and we don't want it. We want peace, harmony and for everyone to accept everyone for their beliefs and choices (bar violence, padeophilia etc) Religion is less and less an issue now, I regard people as individuals not followers of a belief/cause/sexuality/etc. I am so proud to be part of a generation who are open-minded and concerned about individuals' wellbeings regardless of their sexual preference or religion.... who cares? We will always have one thing in common... we're all human... and we all deserve the same rights!!! becx

Well, this has certainly been an enjoyable exchange of opinion. Circular Pat, I don't normally offer any personal information to the world via this or any other site. But since you 'came out' tonight I will too. I'm a heterosexual woman married to a heterosexual man. Like you, I don't see what my sexual persuasion has to do with my support of laws which grant equity to my fellow human beings. Love Patty x

Sheila Thank you, well at least it's changing, but like all changes its slow but at least it changes eventually. Its up to us to make sure it keeps changing for the better which it will, this is what I believe. I believe people power you and me and many others who will see the changes and benefit from them. Respect. Pat x

It's times like this that I'm so pleased that MY generation are so much more open-minded than previous ones. Love is love, sex is sex, who cares what gender you are? There is so much negativity in this world that we could do without individuals being repressed based on their sexual preference. As long as people are happy it IS NOT important! Gay, lesbian, bisexual, heterosexual... I couldn't care less, we're all human and as long as you respect me as a human being then I will respect you. I look forward to the day when such narrow-minded homophobia is a thing of the past, love becx

Brian that comment by you about Muslem Countries proves my point about religion, and one of the various reasons it has no place in my life. We should be campaigning against the injustice of muslem countries killing and mutalating people all in the name of religion, its disgusting. I like to think I believe everyone is equal if you are hetrosexual or homosexual it doesn't change my opinion of you, it is part of you, but not the complete you. What does my sexuality have to do with the question here? all of us have an opinion and we sometimes need to express it, no matter what we are, I could be a mix race jewish bi-sexual, anarchist, so does my opinion count? it should, we all have one, so let it be heard. I live and let live, why? because i do not follow any religion I do not believe I need to live by something I do not believe in, as I do not believe in god, I dislike the religious way of life which I find hypocritical. Thats my opinion and it does not change no matter what others believe. Pat x Brian, Just to let you know, I am a happily married woman to a man who is also an atheist, we have been together 20 years, married 15years. We are lucky we believe the same things and are very happy we have three healthy children eldest just 18, 14, and 11 years old I hope they follow me in believing everyone is equal and we should all defend the right to free speech. Respect Pat x

Regardless of religion, the law or anything else, it is obvious, or should be to any thinking person, that a man and woman go together, and a man and man, or woman and woman, dont'.

Brian (i) thank you for that. Albertan, I can appreciate your concerns about future challenges. But it appears that religious freedom is well protected already, and under this new law most especially with regards the right on behalf of religious institutions to non-recognition or blessing of same sex unions. Some religions, my own included, do not recognise divorced persons as free to marry within the church. So far there have been no challenges based upon the refusal of the R.C. church to marry divorced persons who are of course, legally entitled to marry in a civil ceremony. (No doubt in other churches not governed by the same or similar matrimonial laws as the R.C. church) Regards, Patty
