hiya have have been for a lung function test and it seems ,i need a steriod inhaler twice a day. does any one else need the same x

my daughter suffered from asthma from age of 2 and had it right till she was 14 and lucky enough grew out of it

Yes..........me, and more recently my daughter too. Take steriod twice a day both of us. Are you having trouble? Stel.xx

hi sandra, like me,your a dark horse! you only post after the event. you have'nt said whether your a smoker,or if you live in the midst of a smoker. its strange just how life has changed,we seem to have forgotten what we were taught at primary school,about breathing fresh air,and how important it is to fill our lungs. stanley mathews played professional football at age 52,but he would go on the beach at morcambe,at 6am,and spend an hour just deep breathing in the sea air. today,we live with stress,polution,and our health suffers. wish you well sandra....bryan.

Yes and is triggered off by stress/pollen/pollution so have been a virtual prisoner for the past 7 weeks in the house. Husband took me in his AC car to supermarket last night - less traffic - less pollution - walked the few yards to the store from car park and was in trouble, straight back in car and home. It is the car/bus fumes I react to faster than anything. Apart from 3 inhalers and anti-histimine - I now am on 8 steriods for 5 days. I have been banging a big drum for over 20 years re increase in asthma in children - I blamed it on buggies - look at any baby/toddler in a buggy - just a lovely height for car exhausts.

As much as I try to keep my kids in clean fresh air........it's impossible for me to do that! Ann.........keep banging that drum. Stel.xx sorry. I know what it's like.......be well.

ann, i totally agree with you. buses in london emit unacceptable levels of pollution,and its just the right height for the child sitting in a buggy. when will they learn? bryan.

My neice had asthma from being very little, both her parents smoked she had a very bad attack when she was 10 it caused heart failure she never recovered, When will people ever learn, Wendy.xx

My daughter was pregnant nearly 20 years ago and I threatened and nagged that much about a buggy. She did chose a pram which was high from the ground and a pushchair again high from ground. It was those low buggies I shouted about and still do. Ann

My grandparents were both heavy smokers when they were younger (my dad reckons the air was literally blue in his house when he was small!!) When my grandmother was about 60, she fell down the stairs and broke her leg. Whether it was just found out whilst in hospital for her leg I do not know, but it was discovered she had very bad asthma.She gave up smoking straight away - my grandad didnt until he was diagnosed with cerebral ataxia ten years or so later. She is 86 now and suffers really badly with it. Poor old lass had an attack the other day after eating apple sauce (the acid in it set her off) This can happen at anytime in your life. Natalia x

I was diagnosed when I was 19....... before that it was just....... 'another chest infection' or 'antibiotics I think' It was only when I begged doctor for help that I got it!! Now he is most attentive to me.........and my child! Stel.xx

Thats great Stel, so he should be. My middle son has it . It started when he was a teenager, has it pretty much in control now, a few worrying nights when he was young, Wendy.xx

I know you're an angel Bryan! LOL Glad you don't suffer yourself...or your daughters! Things are under control at the moment for us both.... As you know.....I am calm, cool and very ready for any emergency...(my hubby panics)!!!!!!! Bryan....... You do a great job.......I will tell you that every time!! my husband has suffered for years and has just been for his latest check-up, he has been told he is in the early stages of lung failure, he is 50 years old and has been told to go and live abroard if he wants to live longer, i would like to get my hands on the doctor who told him this he sounds like a right t****r.
