I do not sneeze but am coughing and wheezing except when in lounge with air cooler - needless to say sweet fanny adams has been done for about last 2 weeks! So the high pollen must still be about - was beginning to wonder in case something else was wrong with me. Off to N. Devon in about 10 days time - breathe in plenty of sea air - cannot come quick enough.

Lemon - wanting to know if anyone else is still having problems with pollen and heat - even though official count is finished - my reactions still seem to be same - confined to house and the air cooler. Ann

Looking at this thread it would appear that stress/pollen/weather be it hot or very cold are the most common factors - these three are certainly my triggers. Ann

heleninrotterdam Report 9 Aug 2005 10:15

I've had it since I was about 14. That was when we got the TB jab at school, although I cannot prove that that was what triggered it. In the beginning I just had Ventolin, but it gradually got worse over the next 10 years and for the past 12 years or so I have taken a steroid inhaler every day and Ventolin as and when I need it. I have had a number of really bad do's in the past when the doctor had to prescribe steroid tablets. Touch wood - my asthma has been much better since we moved away from the UK. Triggers for me are muggy weather, pollen (especially oil seed rape) and if I get a cold/flu. I avoid anything containing aspirin, cut down on dairy products in the summer months and also find that anything containing Nutrasweet/aspartame makes me wheezy.

Hi I have been diagnosed with asthma for the last 7 years - only 'got it' since I stopped smoking. It started apparently with the fact that I also 'got' hayfever (never been ill in my life before that!), and because it went untreated (didnt know I had it), I ended up with asthma. Im supposed to take a brown inhaler twice a day and the blue one when I get breathless. As I only have an attack when I laugh (I narrowed the attacks down, excuse the pun), needless to say I only use my blue one now and have done for the last 5 years. Hubby says I should do vigourous exercise to clear the mucus from my lungs but exercise doesnt affect my condition anyway, so I dont think that would help. I honestly thought 'I cant have asthma, it only happens when I laugh'. But, I looked on the net and found that asthma comes in many guises including just laughing. Broncial spasms I beleive. Vikki xx

Shirley I have the Serentide purple disk night and morning but cannot honestly say I notice any difference - said to clinic sometimes I can taste it and other times not - told me it was foolproof.

Yes, my husband, he has had it for about 30yrs. he uses Seretide Diskus Accuhaler, plus he has a smaller blue for instant relief. But since having the Seretide purple diskus Accuhaler he has hardly any problems at all. Shirley Ann.
