I'd be Jessie! Mind you it's better than what I nearly got landed with ...DONALDINA after my Dad! (great tradition in Scotland of shoving INA on the end of a male name and 'thinking' it sounds good! )LOL Christine

Christine Report 16 Aug 2005 21:43

I follow the pattern - my first name is Mary after my grandmother who died 1 month before I was born - for some reason known only to my parents - I have always been known by my second name.......this is a real pain....for all hospital appointments I am Mary.....legal documents again Mary....etc etc....I don't answer to Mary its not my name - why 'Mary Christine' and not 'Christine Mary'......mind you the nurse when I was born thought I should be 'Poppy' and my aunt wanted me to be Cynthia so perhaps I should be grateful for small mercies....Poppy is lovely now but in the 1940s.....no way.......and not with the surname Tuck ! ! !

Louise

Louise Report 16 Aug 2005 19:49

'Snap' Margaret. Mine would be the name I have now - Louise but with an 'a' Louisa. My nan was also named after her nan (dad's side) so in fact I'm named after my gg grandmother.

Margaret

Margaret Report 16 Aug 2005 19:46

Id be Lena. Although my lot didnt seem to follow that pattern, but we had a lot of Alice's and Rachels. Every generation from gggg grandad has either married one or named their daughters those names.

I'd be Elizabeth but I'd probably need a new middle name 'cos I guess Elizabeth Elizabeth would be too much of a mouthful. Probably have been lumbered with my other Granny's name, Mabel!
