She's Out of My Life, Michael Jackson, played at a friends funeral. For personal reasons the one that reduces me to a blubbering idiot is The Way We Were : Barbra Streisand. Jean x. |

Karen Nobody's Child gets me too. Christine Danny Boy is my all time tearjerker. It was my mum's favourite and even though she died at Christmas 1973, it still gets to me (specially after a drink). Another one that most people will not have heard (unless you are old like me) Blackpool Rock (think it was a George Formby). Mum used to sing it in the pub when I was a kid - LOL! Brings back happy memories that one! There was another one she used to sing about a little mouse, the words went something like - 'you mustn't get it out round 'ere'. Does anyone remember that one?? Funny how the songs that can upset us become some of our favourites innit? Is it because something in them reflects the things we feel and don't talk about? |

I cant Live if living is without you (an old boyfriend left that on my answer phone!). If you leave me now (Kept coming into my mind when my mum was gravely ill) I just called to say I love you (my mum always used to sing that when she rang me) |

I think you have it right there David. Even though these soungs make us cry we always stop what we are doing to listen to them. Another one is You'll never Walk alone. My Mum used to sing that to me when there was a thunder storm. Germaine x |
