Germaine

Germaine Report 25 Sep 2005 14:26

I was named after a lady in Belgium. She and her husband had befriended my Dad during the war. they used to take hot soup out to the soldiers and my Dad kept in contact with them for years. Sadly we lost touch when I was about 8. If I had been a boy i would have been called Emille (spl?) after her husband. Germaine x

I was Christened in hospital Pamela Margaret (after an Aunt that also died when new born)... as I wasn't expected to survive. Unfortunately for my parents I was a tough little cookie and survived, so my birth mother gave me the worst name she could think of and my father decided I should take my mothers name as a middle name. As my Father registered me I was given his surname ... which I should NOT of had since the two of them were not married... and there is some doubt as to whether or not he did father me ! I have not YET changed my name ... and can't think of any names I particulary like as a first name (as I gave my daughter the two I did like) but one day I WILL change my name by Deed Poll to Pennell-Shawcross (as thats the surname I should have been given at birth) and I MAY take Margaret as a middle name ... Elaine Margaret Pennell-Shawcross..... ummm not sure !

Anne - Just like I'm NOT a hellraiser... My mum said she is a heroine in the book and having read the first chapter I think the hellraiser reference is more suitable! lol

Hello Kim/Mary!!! How you doing? I was named after the character Becky Sharp in 'Vanity Fair'... Haven't read it (yet!) but apparently she's a bit of a hellraiser! My middle name is Elanor. She was Samwise Gamgee's first daughter in Lord of The Rings. She was named after a flower Sam found in one of the books (apparently!, Dad is LOTR mad!!) love becx

I was going to be called Joanne Louise. In those days the registrar used to come round the hospitals to register your babies. The registrar got to the woman in the next bed to my Mum first and she called her baby Joanne Louise. So Mum decided she wasn't having the same as her and called me Jeanette Louise instead. She didn't even ask my Dad if it was ok! lol

Hi Bec, The legend goes like this. My dad was a works policeman [security guard today] at The Gram [forerunner of EMI] in Hayes & there was a rather beautiful French girl working there called Vivienne Rosalie. Mum didn't really want me anyway so dad got to chose the name. He always had rose coloured specs when it came to me, even entered me for the Hayes carnival queen. lol Vivienne
