I want to stop before then. My husband has given up and my mum comes over from Wales at Christmas, and she will give me so much grief that he has stopped and I haven't that it would be less painful to give up!

Thanks Joy but I must be truthful I'm not looking forward to it. I might have to pack up earlier than new year as my husband wants to pack in smoking because he's having an operation and we have to do it together!! Bless! Nanna Moon

Dorothy, and others the lozenges have an added bonus in that you allow them to dissolve in your mouth, therefore you aren't eating Good Luck to you all I may yet join up - lost my resolve after 7/7 and really should try again Ken xx

I am thinking of joining you all. I can hardly breathe in the evenings and yet I still try to light up!...MAD or wot! My partner gave up sooooo easily last new year. I'm banned from smoking upstairs (thats where my pooter is, in the spare room ).... I SO want to join him! My grandmother and aunty died of Cancer....My elder sister has it, her daughter(my niece) has it. My own daughter had to have cancer cells burnt away after a smear test showed abnormal cells... WOT IS THE MATTER WITH ME? . . OK new year it is but i draw the line at eating all that fruit n veg n gallons of water!!!!! LOL I prefer a bacon butty with melted cheese. Gerri x

I am going to a smoking cessation clinic run by my village pharmacy. If you join the 'don't give up giving up' nhs clinics you get assessed as to which sort of NRT (Nicotine replacement therapy) suits you - patches, gum, lozenges, tablets, sprays or inhilators. If you buy the patches over the counter they are around £17.49 for a weeks supply. If you go to the clinic they charge you £6.50 for 2 weeks supply. The girls at my clinic are really supportive. They test your body for carbon monoxide contamination which is a real eye opener. The web site is www ( . ) givingupsmoking ( . ) c o ( . ) uk

How about giving it up now - we could make this a support thread where we give each other encouragement and listen to our highs and lows. Lin

Gray You can't be anymore of a cow than I am. No really you can't! lol Don't be ashamed. Nobody wants to be a smoker if they are really honest with themselves. I don't think alot of people realise what a difficult addiction it is to give up
