Thinking of you Brian as always. Grief always passes slower in those early years, but as the years pass, when we look back we almost always say to ourselves, 'How quick does time fly'. And its true. The first year is always marked with anniversaries, birthdays, occasions, we see them before they arrive and wait for the pain to hit. Time goes on, we don't forget but it becomes easier. Our longing for the person never leaves us, but our feelings are not so raw over time. We start to look forward to things, and look back not in pain and anguish, but with fondness and happiness, that we had the life together and shared so many things. Picking out the happier memories rather than the painful ones. Its a natural progress. For in time, you will add more lovely memories to your mind bank, which help to diffuse the painful ones, although they will still be there, the gnawing power of grief will be, in time, gone. Elaine xx

Brian, sending you lots of love. I have a little wooden plaque on my bedroom wall that my hubby bought me many years ago, it says, The years slip along easily, it's the days that are tough. Very true words. M.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. Many people have said hasn't the year gone fast. To me it has felt like a thousand years. I talk to her every day because I have her in my living room, photo on page 13 GC Photos, there to remain until my demise and we will then be together again. Thank you Lou for your message. Brian (i)
