As has been said in previous threads, anything this current royal family has got up to totally pales into insignificance compared to what many of their predecessors did. The Queen will never step down/abdicate, and not because of any opinions she may hold about who will follow her, but because she strongly believes that the vows to God that she made at her coronation are irrevocable. The idea of abdication is a complete anathema to her. Also, it's widely acknowledged now that Edward's abdication had, in actual fact, nothing whatever to do with Wallis Simpson - that was just a convenient cover-up for Baldwin and the cabinet. Its far more probable that he was 'persuaded' to give up the throne because of his links with Hitler and his willingness to make a deal with Germany to avoid a war. Lastly, I do think that blaming Camilla in any way for Diana's death is rather like blaming George Stevenson for the Hadfield rail crash. Simon

Hi Debs..hope you get a good vantage point in the crowd (if there is a crowd! LOL). C and C sat just in front of and to the left of me when I attended an army veterans parade in Hyde Park last May. I wouldn't presume to judge anybody, doubt we know the half of what happened between Charles and Diana anyway! Give 'em a wave from me! Dee x

Dee, I am going with the family later today to see them, and im looking forward to it. Saw the photos of them both from the opening of the memorial garden in New York yesterday and I think she looked lovely. Debs x

Having actually seen Charles and Camilla 'in real life' so to speak, I can report that, in fact, Camilla is a very attractive woman. She is quite tiny, and much slimmer than she appears on TV or in the Press. And even if she wasn't, I think it is awful of people to criticise her for her looks. Dee x

This is quite interesting regarding prince phillip Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich, was born Prince of Greece and Denmark in Corfu on 10 June 1921. He was born the only son of Prince Andrew of Greece. His paternal family is of Danish descent - Prince Andrew was the grandson of King Christian IX of Denmark. His mother was Princess Alice of Battenberg, the eldest child of Prince Louis of Battenberg and sister of Earl Mountbatten of Burma. Prince Louis became a naturalised British subject in 1868, joined the Royal Navy and rose to become an Admiral of the Fleet and First Sea Lord in 1914. During the First World War Prince Louis changed the family name to Mountbatten and was created Marquess of Milford Haven. Prince Philip adopted the family name of Mountbatten when he became a naturalised British subject and renounced his Royal title in 1947. Prince Louis married one of Queen Victoria's granddaughters. Thus, The Queen and Prince Philip both have Queen Victoria as a great-great-grandmother. They are also related through his father's side. His paternal grandfather, King George I of Greece, was Queen Alexandra's brother

i too hope Charles and Camilla will be happy!! unfortunatly the royals are still in the dark ages, when princes ansd princesses had thier partners chosen for them, ususally from other countries ie: prince Phillip came from a German(i think) royal family and he was chosen for the Queen for that reason!! It was the same for Princess Margaret, she was not allowed to marry the love of her life!! she had to marry a lord Hope i have some of my facts right!! Helen

Id just like to add, Ive seen some pictures of 'Cammy' on the tour, and to be honest she lookes quite lovely ! As for her wearing pink, pink is a flattering colour for a lady of her age, such is other pale colours. (what I call wedding outfit colours) so unless she is wearing the same frock as Di did, I dont think it matters. LEN Come on spill the beans... .....post it all on here no-one else will see it lol ! David How was Charles II a 'bad' king and how worse than Charles I?

Ultimately... Diana is dead... and I'm sure she'd be happy that her sons are now in a stable family with a dad and a stepmum. As much as she might disapprove of Camilla, her, Charles, William and Harry are happy... and a family at that. I hope they are are ALL happy forever and I'm sure Diana would feel the same. love becx

Well, I don’t know about you lot but I think I may have been just a tad peed off if my brand new hubby was wearing cufflinks on his honeymoon presented to him by his old flame… not to mention phone calls and gallops in the country!!! That aside it was surprising to see Camilla chose to wear Pink on her first engagement in USA…. The same colour Diana wore on her first visit.. and correct me if I’m wrong but her new hair style looked rather familiar!!!! After that I have to say let them get on with it like the spoilt little rich kids they are… getting their own way at last… oh and of course they are in luuuuvvve!!! Just don’t let him and her ever rule Britain!!! Wonder why the Queen has never stood down in favour of Charles???? Jacquie (Oleander) xxxx

Lesley sorry if you misunderstood my posting. The anger part of my posting was meant in general for all the angry people who sadly cant let the past be past, and let them be happy as a couple. With all the terrorism and hatred going on in the world, at least we can see some happy people living their life to the full.. Who are we to say they should not be happy together ? Looking back, it may have looked as if was intended for you personally. Im sorry again if I have made it look that way. Elaine x

Len, I agree with you about Camilla & Charlie i would think it must be true love with the two of them. I thought it was quite obvious that Charles didn't love Diana and I don't think Diana really loved him she was young probably a little overwhelmed with it all. Elaine Lesley was agreeing with you ;-) Pat x

My! some of you Girls are scratching tonight meowwww, well for those who were'nt around in the early days, giving me age away now, Charles would have married Camilla, but the power's that be wouldnt hear of it, they probably thought Charlie should have married some foriegn princess, but they were in short supply, specially the Proddy ones, so he got sent abroad in his dhingy, and Camilla ended up marrying Parker Bowles, I dont think Charles really wanted to marry Diana, as someone has said they were not suited, her becomeing a bit of a prima donna, which didnt help matter's and Charlie still had the hots for Camilla, so in a way blame the establishment, the rest is history, so lets keep it that way and leave them alone, you cant do anything about it so why keep on about it. Len Ps Had a mate who was on Charles ship, told all!!

I havent had charles and camilla rub anything in my face... In fact, they forgot to send me a card for my birthday this year I would keep your anger for people who really do you harm, not those who stare out from a tv screen or magazine page. And whose story you get via the paparazzi, remember them, .....the ones who hounded Diana to death.
