God Bless you Shirley ......you do so much for others and what goes around comes around you can be sure. Look forward to the future no matter what. The support you've had on here proves that folk do really 'care'. I was in similar position some years ago and nearly lost my home. Thanks to CAB I kept it. Took some years to pay off my debts but I did it . I kept my house and now look after young people in care and currently have one who's returned to us as he was homeless.

Shirley Sorry to hear of your troubles. Does your Council have an Affordable Homes Scheme? I think it would be in your favour that you sold your previous home, without being forvced to, in order to honour your debts - not many people do that. Also, your previous mortgage company should look on you favourably too (but I bet they don't!) I was in a grotty, privately-rented flat for years and absolutely despaired of ever getting out of it, I thought I would die there. Someone put me onto 'Non Status' Mortgages, and although they charged 1% more than the High Street rate, after two years I was able to remortgage. As everyone else has said 'something will turn up'. I was briefly homeless years ago, with a small daughter. A friend of a friend offered me her house for six months while she was abroad - she didnt even know me! Try to enjoy your Christmas and not to worry about it (difficult, I know). Olde Crone

Thank you all so very much. I am putting this all to one side until after xmas. Then me and mine will start looking round to see what we can find, Im more worried about the sorting out the loft than i am about moving, lol. i have lived here for 23yrs, so you can imagine the amount of stuff that has been put up there over the years. Its not a situation i would have chosen to be in, but i count my blessings when i read some of the threads on here. Shirley Ann.

Are there any private lets round where you are? They do not always want a large deposit. Or have you tried a housing Association. Goo luck. Granny

Shirley, was just reading this and i remembered your tarot reading, had another read of it, think the last part of the reading is appropriate for now....Be strong, dont worry too much, all will work out with time, we are all here for you. .I do think this is a very important message, it really could happen to anyone-and often does.... God bless you and yours and have a wonderful Christmas and a fab New Year!!! xxxxxxxxxx

Glenys the Menace! Report 24 Dec 2005 14:09

Hello Shirley, I haven't added to your thread until now, as it brought back awful memories for me (that's not an accusation!! lol) from early 1990 for several years. I was in a similar situation, through no fault of my own, and which came as a huge shock (ex-husbands gambling came to light, together with huge debts I didn't know he had). I'm just adding to the thread to say, it may take time, but you will come out of this, especially as a stronger person. Regarding doggie, we had to put our two cats into a cattery for some months when we had to sell our house, and the owners of the place (who knew the situation) were very understanding, and gave us discount because of the long time the cats were going to be there. Oops, just been called downstairs to help with something! Better go for now, 'see' you soon. x
