Whoops haven't watched it yet as Hubby wanted to see a film on at the same time so i have recorded it. Wot a plonker then!! I discovered my paternal grandfather & his family were German & it didn't phase me!!. Felt a bit intrigued & not ashamed by my Ancestry &&& I was an WW2 evacuee.!! Shirley |

Well, Mr Clary Snr had the last laugh, didn't he! It's a shame that people from that generation won't abide Germans; OK, Hitler and the SS were evil specimens (being polite here!), but I understand that a lot of young German soldiers didn't even want to go to war. Come on Mrs Clary - lighten up! I did enjoy the programme, other than that bit. Nice one, Jules. x (Slinks off, in case Mrs Clary finds out that one of my great-aunts married a German!) |

Yes Lynda i agree, we have to remember the prejudice regarding germany because of the 2 world wars... and this then being passed down a generation.. I do not really blame Julians Mum for her thoughts on this...it probably was ingrained on her during childhood. |

Did anyone notice the calender on the wall at the begining of the programe? It was Aug 0'5. Then again, we can see it was summer because every week they film people sat around tables in the garden. |

I didn't find the easiest to watch out of all the ones so far mainly because Julian Clary seems to have very pointy nipples to my shame I also have family that lived in Popham Street (the bit they looked at on Booths poverty map) but they're a fairly distant part of teh LInkson's so thats fine Z |

had to turn it off. wanted to almost from the start - His mother couldnt entertain the idea that her husbands family were decended from Gemans - perish the thought- then he discovered she was too- I Thought she was a complete snob!! |
