hi SuzyQ, if you have broadband and leave your computer on even when not connected your computer can make a connection. This can happen with auto upgrades, pop-ups etc or just cookies that are attached from you browsing sites. the only way to stop it is to turn off the computer completely each time you use it or try unplugging the cable to your broadband modem when not in use. Shazz has been chatting with me over a possible family connection and invited me to have a chat with you guys, as you can probably tell I have no problems with talking Louisa:) |

Hi Louisa, I never leave my computer switched on and only turn on the modem if I am on the internet. We are very conscious of the electricity bill and always turn all our appliances off when not in use. I did expect to use more with broadband, but didn't expect to use more than double. SuzyQ |

hi SUZYQ, that is weird then isn't it, though I am not surprised I don't think I have heard too many positives re BP its hard to moniter too isn't it, Louisa |

Yvonne , your yellow and fluffy got me thinking of Harry Hayes thread…..'Anyone fancy a well off old off codger' lol Can you tell me what avro means as see it often and can’t work out what it is??? Glad everyone is feeling better but watch out for those backs...I tend to get a very bad one in the mornings but it wears off in about half an hour, still don't know what it is. CarolB |

Louisa Yes it is hard to moniter because you are not told how much you are using with sites like GR for example. You can keep a check of your usage but that isn't very scientific. When I signed up with bigpond, I got the 500MB because we are in one of those telstra counrty areas and the government arranged with telstra to give us the extra. I am now wondering if we are getting it or not. I have used in 13 days what I used to use in a month. I will need to do some detective work i think, or maybe write to one of the current affairs programs and let them do it LOL SuzyQ |

Hi Carol Arvo is afternoon. The australian language is great. We shorten every thing we possible can. And if we can put an O on the end that's even better. SuzyQ ( original Yorkshire lass) |

Afternoon all, wish all winters days were like this one - not bad at all! Suzy Q . . . I think you are spot on !! So much is happening with my family history at the moment - and it all seems to be along the same line - and most of it completely unexpected results. I have never been able to find my grandma's birth (1886), or her parents marriage, or her mothers birth! Last resort, last Monday I did a search using just her christian name & mothers christian name - a match came up right year, right NSW country town, but completely unrelated surname. What the heck, I ordered it - it arrived today and its them !!! Clear sailing now . . . have found them all so 4 more certs ordered today - there goes my dividend cheque ! Now all I need it to know why they changed there surname ??? They didn't leave the district, so it wasn't for a fresh start. Mind boggles !!! Shaz I dont know the answer to your question about the NSW bdm's - I will try and find out for you - but I dont think you can get to actually see the index after 1905 for yourself, I think you may have to prove your a rellie, and pay them to search! Will get back to you. Got some ironing to do so will look in again later cheers luv Laurie |

Hi Laurie, It must be really exciting for you. The name change may be a bit baffling though. Maybe, like a friend of mine, there was a name change because a family member had a dubious career. My friend had a male relative who was also a very well known ' gangland member ' . Her family have changed their surname several times. Could be worth a look LOL Luv SuzyQ |

Yes, Suzy I will keep looking, but the surname they changed from appears to be very uncommon, and googling hasn't uncovered anything sinister YET ! Sorry Lew, I watched the 9 number for ages while I was checking out Harrys yellow hair - actually thought I would have come in way behind the stalkers. How was your lunch ???? Where did they take you ??? luv Laurie |

Hi fluffy wattlers and hello to Louisa also a fluffy wattler,I need a shoulder to lean on, these gkids are exhuasting me, took them to Mt Coottha for a bbq lunch, before lunch we walked roughly 2k up to the summit and back down again, I am so fit Not! then after lunch which consisted of minced chicken hamburgers ( chicken minced by my own fair hands) I like to know what they are eating, they wanted another walk, I am soooo tired. The bbq was great though we all joined in in collecting twigs and making paper twist, I let them light the fire, then one buttered the rolls and another collected more wood the third chopped tomatoes etc it was really great fun, tomorrow I'm taking them to our local skate board park, where I can just sit and watch, ah! Trying to remember all the messages sorry if I forget anyone. Mary congrats on selling your house something we plan to do next year am not looking forward to it at all, we have been here twenty years and have accumulated so much stuff. Backs: to all the sore back peeps have you ever thought of trying an osteopath. I have two bulging discs which used to give me terrible grief, but since seeing an osteo I can almost do the can can again, little fib there but honestly I am now free from pain, wonderful! Trifley and Pam, my Dad was born in the townland Derrylilleagh which is in Co.Armagh, I think his mother might have been born in Co.Antrim or America, something my dad once said, and his Dad in Co.Armagh. I'm still chipping away at the brick wall , sent off for a birth cert today hopfully it's for my gfather Joods how are your mouth ulcers? they should been clearing up by now. Lew Lew, don't cry to much tomorrow you can always go back, lol love to all Jillx |

we have changed surnames occurring every now and then amongst all the families that i research because *some were lazy spellers, *non spellers, *individual thinkers, *bad at pronouncing their name (queer accent) *and the goody - the registrars were not very good at their job. i have been having a bad week due to a government department - not very good at their job. fluffy yellow stuff, i used to think it gave me hayfever, but have since found out its all the other things in the air at the same time . my jonquils give me hell and fresias too so i dont pick them any more , just leave them in the garden. bad backs = hydro, aqua fitness, weight training ( also oh is a massage therapist, so every now and then i let him fix it). you are welcome to borrow him, he requires gluton free diet and quiet, unless is practising his music. love yvette |

SuzyQ, in case you hadn't realised, Miss Lew Lew is just a bit obsessive compulsive and has to clean everything even if it's clean! lol. The office girls took us to lunch at the Wineglass and it was very nice. Even baby Ruby was there. She is very sweet and I had lots of snuggles. The girls also gave us a beautiful Crab Apple Tree (about 2.5 metres high) with a plaque. God only knows what people will think in 100 years, lol. Well, we're down to one sleep and looking forward to our final day. Management is arguing over my long service leave (gee, what a surprise) and the d**kheads want me to come back and do casual work for them, yeah right!!!!!!! Sorry, I haven't had time to catch up on the thread. Is there someone new? Lew Lew xxx |
