Paul, I'm not a smoker and never have been, it's fine by me if you want to smoke in open spaces & where ever it's permitted. Heather :) |

My hubby smoked for about 40 years but, thankfully gave up 10 years ago. But every time he gets a cold or flu symptoms, like he has just now, he has a really bad time. Every breath is a struggle and it's an awful thing to witness. So no, I would not sign anything which encourages people to carry on doing harm to themselves - in public places or anywhere else. |

Why is it neccessary for people to use foul language and /or foul expressions to state their opinions (but only when that opinion differs from yours ) ? We are all entitled to our point of view and quite frankly I dont mind people smoking in open spaces if they want to,consider it signed Paul ! Maddy |

As a ex-smoker I don't mind smoking in public places as long as cigarette ends do not litter the streets and make them look dirty! There should be specific bins lining the streets to dispose of them in a sensible way and slightly fragranced too so the waft isn't in the air! Another thing is walking behind someone and getting the smoke waft in my face it honestly takes my breathe away and I continue to hold it until I have passed that person as silly as it sounds! Good topic with probably lots of heated dicussion to come!!....lol Susie x |

I would sign!! If i have to stop smoking in the open air!! then how about we ban spitting in the street, drunks being sick in the street, people who still let their dogs foul the pavement, loud music coming out of passing cars, to name a few of the things i find very offensive Love Helenxx the happy smoker!! |

I don't have any quarrels with those who smoke in the open air as long as a) they don't blow the smoke in my face as I walk past (and it happens frequently in town) or b) they don't disgard their cigarette butts on the ground. It looks horrible outside businesses etc when there are piles of cigarette ends. and these are probably sensible people who would complain if they saw a young lad throw a sweet wrapper on the floor. The other week I was in Hobbycraft there were not many people in there and I could tell when one lady was coming close behind me because I could smell her. She smelt so strongly of cigarette smoke. Ugh!!! I just wondered what her house smelt like. Ann Glos |

As one who smoked her last cigarette on 1 Sept I defend the right to freedom. Our rights have been and are being eroded through Europe and the Labour Gov. We all laughed at George Orwell - it has turned out to be much worse. Ann |

Yes, I'll sign that one Paul. It gets now that one feels guilty lighting up at all. They are bad for us... we all know that but to ban smoking in the open air as well as all the other places is taking away OUR civil rights! Jacquie xxxxxx (who would like to give up again but has too much trauma at present to do so!) |
