Jayvee, my husband's blood is the same as yours (it hasn't stopped him donating - 57 times so far - I think they are quite keen to have that type of blood). I can't quite catch him up - I've given about 27 times and am the proud owner of a silver donation card and a badge and pen. (I'm AB Positive). However, requirements have been upped recently (something to do with the EC), and last time they wouldn't accept my blood as my iron levels were not quite high enough.

My friend has been nagging her husband for ages to give blood she finally went by herself ,and they asked has she had either oral or annal sex recently, which I was amazed about anyway after all the embarassing questions they told her she needed it more than them as she was very anaemic .

I'm A Rh Pos, I used to give blood regularly but one time after doing the thumb test they told me I needed it more than they did. I might try again though, because I do think it's a good thing to do, in fact I've just realised my oldest two children are over 18 now, so I'll try and encourage them to come with me. I don't know what any of my childrens blood groups are (hubby is O+) as when I asked when one of them had the heel test just after he was born, they said they didn't check for that, I think they thought I wanted to know for paternity reasons, although one look at my son would have told anyone that John was his dad!
