I follow no specific religious pathway. I have always believed in the power of positive thought, to beleive in one's own strength and ideals, always strive to be good, kind, considerate of others, and like the American native Indians, I believe in the spirits and souls of my ancestors. If I choose to pray, it is to them and personal to me, this way I feel I keep a bond between us (although separated by death), I feel they keep me as strong as I need to be no matter what. Lin xx

I used to believe in the Christian God. I was brought up to believe in God and Jesus - both my parents were Christians who tried to lead Christian lives as directed by the church. My father, at 96, still does. I'm not sure what I believe now. The behaviour of so many 'Christians' goes against everything I understood Jesus to stand for that I'm confused. If I read about Jesus the man in the New Testament I can believe he was a truly good man. Then I look at the bigotry, blindness, intolerance and hatred shown by so many who profess to believe in him that I don't wish to be included in their number. I think I do believe in a supreme being, I just think that maybe a lot of people have got him/her wrong. If I come to believe that there is a Christian God it will be despite, not because of, a lot of those who claim to know his word. If all Christians were like my parents it would be a lot easier to believe. Gwynne

Thanks to David and David for their replies to my question. If everyone was as accepting and respectful of others as you obviously are, the world would be a much more harmonious place. Anna

I believe there is a spirit world, whether there is a god or not as we view or perceive him, I really dont know. I believe there may be a higher spirit entity who shows himself to different religions as what they can accept and see...such as God, Allah, Budda etc. But I dont believe in the bible and other man written books, There are many contridictions, and some fanatics use those contridictions to cause strife and unhappiness . (Im not knocking those who seek comfort from these books) I also cant understand why a God will not accept certain people into his kingdom. I would have thought God who supposebly created everything would accept ALL of his creatures in heaven, ..despite any 'Flaws' they may have. Elaine x

This is a tricky question!! When I hear of all the bad things that happen to people all over the world then I do question if there is a God but then I look at my 4 mth old niece and ask myself how can there not be! All I know for sure is that if I am in trouble what do I do......I pray!! So do I believe??? Yep I think I do!! Bev
