lol Anne.... Julie - trouble with G is that he thinks its his god given right to swap times and weekends etc as and when it suits him to - regardless of what plans I may have!!! I'm not altogether sure that him and K are going to the reception anyhow and if he is looking for an excuse out of it then he will be able to use the fact he has the kids!!! And I've already told my pal that its his weekend due with them and she laughed!! She isnt bothered about any of his family etc going and would rather they didnt but its the hubby to be who is pally with them all........ I'm certainly not going on my own thats for sure - will defo either need a bloke beside me (hired or otherwise) or one of my pals.. |

Given your latest info ............... being the non-confrontational type - I'd have the kids and stay home - have a friend round and a few swallies ......... at least you would enjoy yourself doing that :O))) but that's just my opinion xxxxxxxxxxxx |

ok 1. He dont know i'm invited too 2. If he wants to go he'll expect me to swap weekends with him 3. If I swap him then I cant go as dont have a babysitter I dont so much have a problem being at the same reception as him and his g/f as we all get on fairly okay ish (have our moments but usually not too bad.....its the rest of his cronies that were 'supposedly' mutual friends of ours when we were together that now ignore me or are totally false.........But its mainly his parents that bother me....they completely blank me if I bump into them - with or without the kids being there.... I dont really know anyone else at the wedding except the ex in laws, the old cronies of ours and of course the bride and groom......... Now although I know I'm a big girl and can handle the sniping etc .......is it fair to the bride and groom to have that happening at their wedding? |

Ok - first things first ............ is he still going to have the kids and take them along or is he expecting you to have them?? Two - does he know you have been invited?? Three - if he asks for a 'pass' on having the kids would you be able to manage going How about explain to your friend that you may feel a bit uncomfortable with the rest of his family etc being there, but compromise by going along just for a few hours. That way you and your friend are happy - and hopefully you will get through the evening without any 'ex/in-law' hostilities brewing ................. xx |

I would go Jill.....it will happen sooner or later as you have kids in common......last September I had dinner with my ex MIL...first time I saw her for 24 years....it was fine. See my ex and it is fine, Brians ex was at our wedding, and it is best for the kids if you can be all together civily....be brave....get it over now......you can do it XXXXX Better now than worrying as one day for your kids you will all end up in the same room.....ie...weddings....illness.....etc |

Was talking to a friend of mine today who is getting married in June. I (and partner if i can find one in time) are being asked to the reception. Great no problemo!!! However, the guy she is marrying is a friend of my ex's!! So him and his girlfriend are being invited to the wedding reception too. Still not too much of a problem as I'm sure we can stomach each other for an evening..... but!!! His mum and dad, 2 brothers and their wives are also being asked, as are his girlfriends parents and brother and his girlfriend...... happy evening out eh ??? Have worked out in advance that it should be my ex's weekend with the kids that weekend..... Do I brave it out and have to see virtually all of my ex family and his new g/f family, do i make an excuse not to go which will upset my friend.......or wot!!?? |
