Not much going on these days, despite the new names that have popped up. Things seem to have drawn to an angry halt. Haven't posted as much as usual (do I hear cheers?) and probably won't do until the frankly monotonous hostility dies out. No need to reply; there are enough threads about it already. (Yes, I realise the irony :-)

You know what I mean though. I come on here and all I see is woe. This place is supposed to distract me from the real world; it's turning out to be even worse in here than it is out there! *points shaking finger towards the window*

This'll cheer me up. Death Sand Suffocation In the year 1909, a most shocking and gruesome discovery was made upon the picturesque sandhills of New Brighton. On the afternoon of January 13, Thomas Clarke of Wallasey Village and his six-year-old son, Reggie, set out for a quiet walk along the cliff. As they made their way across, Mr. Clarke noticed that the landscape had changed slightly, that the sand had moved. Reggie’s inquisitive gaze was caught by something yet more peculiar. He peered closer. Just over the cliff the boy could see something dark and unusual sticking out of the dune. After a few moments Reggie’s eyes were able to distinguish what the strange object was and immediately the youngster called out to his dad. “There’s a boys boot!” he exclaimed. The father and son carefully made their way down to the sandhills to get a better look. On closer inspection they found that Reggie was right; it was a shoe and it was in fact attached to a human leg. Mr. Clarke suddenly recalled the terrible article that he had read in the paper. Fourteen-year-old Alfred Kemp had recently gone missing from his home 36 Turret Road Liscard. He had learnt how Kemp had left his home on the previous Wednesday at about one-thirty with the intention of reading Walter Scott’s Quentin Durward at his leisure. However he had failed to return, creating the utmost alarm and leaving his family most distraught. Since then there had been numerous searches over many hours, including the gallant efforts of 500 of Baden Powell’s Boy Scouts, but none of these parties had yielded any results. “Could this be the missing child?” Thomas thought to himself. He told little Reggie to run across to the Wallasey Golf Club and ask for the police to be contacted on their telephone. Superintendent McHale and his team were soon on the spot and quickly began digging about the protruding limb. Eventually, they were able work their way through three foot of sand to recover the whole body. It was that of the missing boy. The manner in which his death was brought about was clear to all present. Alfred was lying stretched out on his right side, his left arm partially extended as if to ward off some impending danger. His cap sat on his head just as it did when he was alive, and in his pocket sat his favourite book. It seemed that the youth had taken to sitting at the base of the dune to shield himself from a particularly strong wind. These sorts of winds were known to often cause violent and sudden shifts in the sand and that a large amount must have fallen from the overhanging edge, burying the poor lad instantly. On January 18, an inquest was held by the West Cheshire Coroner, Mr. J. C. Bate. A jury returned a verdict of accidental death by asphyxiation and many heartfelt condolences were expressed to the Kemp family.
