I was going in this morning to try & catch the mother cat but when I called Sam she said not to bother. The kittens are fine, didn't cry for mum & are taking solids mixed with kitten milk. She thinks they are about five & a half weeks & she is going to try to send me a pic later today. If she does I'll put it on the Next Generation site. Vivienne xx |

Hi Meercat, The kittens are too tiny to have the op at the moment but they will be done before they are re-homed. As we have got them so young they will be homed in households as any domestic bred cats would be. One of them has lots of attitude & keeps hissing at Sam but the others are quite happy to be stroked. Hi Meercat, I've only been in about fifteen mins. Tried to catch three today but only got one. Caught the one quickly this morning but had to give up after hanging around for an hour hoping to get another two. Tried again this afternoon but again had to give up & leave the traps set for overnight. Another girl today so now that is six girls & two boys plus five kittens I don't know the sex of. Think about it, each of those six girls could have had five kittens at least, each, this year. Please people get your pets neutered. Sam said her son sent the pics on sunday but they haven't got to me, so they will try again. Vivienne xx |

Evening All, Thanks for the messages. Well there were two cats in the traps this morning when I got to work. Let one go & reset trap. Hour later cat in trap, I can't be certain but I think it was same one & another hour & another recapture. I gave up & just took the one, who turned out to be a boy. I think the crafty cat has worked out that it gets a nice dollop of food for just the little inconvenience of sitting tight till I let it out. This afternoon I caught a big kitten, not sure how big til vet looks at it tomorrow. There are three in the litter so I hope I can get the other two soon, as they will be small enough to gentle & rehome. The five tiny kittens already with Sam are doing very well & want to be with her all the time, crying if she goes away from them. Attitude has calmed a little but is not so keen on being handled as the other four. Hopefully Sam's son will work out why I haven't got the pics yet & we will see them soon. More news tomorrow. Caught another big kitten overnight & took it in this morning. Both are girls about 12 weeks old & guess what I have here with me! Sam of the C.A.T. has 19 cats at the moment & I do not want to lose the chance of gentling & rehoming these, so muggins volunteered. I'm hoping to get their litter mate tonight but in the meantime I got another big cat this afternoon that will be done in the morning. I don't have a digital camera or I would take a pic of these two. Mind you they are a bit scruffy & dirty at the moment. Nearly forgot to say, the vet nurse lent me a litter tray & a couple of bowls & gave me some kitten food for them. Wasn't that lovely of them. Vivienne xx |

Well I finally got the kittens cage cleaned out, changed where they are, to be nearer me, & fed & watered them. I know we always say on here we are mad but now I know I am. I've just been out & dug a washing up bowl of garden soil, so I'll have plenty to change the litter tray. They are going to take a bit of work to get them tame with me being at work all day. They are terrified everytime I move. The cat I took in yesterday was another girl, so that is now 9 girls & 3 boys. Unfortunately I didn't get the litter mate to these two, I hope it is all right. I've left a trap where we think they were born so fingers crossed for tomorrow. Vivienne xx |

Hi Meercat, unfortunately I didn't get the litter mate, just another recapture. These two are going to be hard work to tame, they spit at me each time I get close. They will keep sitting in their litter tray & they are filthy. The fact that I don't have a proper pen, just a hospitalisation cage, doesn't help. They don't have enough room to play. They need to go to someone who is around most of the day. I work, officially, eight hours a day but sometimes longer & with travelling & cat catching I can be away from home for ten hours & they need more attention. Hopefully Sam will find someone else to take them soon. I'm going to try trapping in the garden tonight, to hopefully catch those that don't come into the garage where we feed them. Vivienne xx |

I'm not geared up to take in cats at all but the alternative was to let them go like the older ones & it seems a shame when there is a chance of gentling & rehoming them. I just hope Sam finds someone else soon. My incense sticks are being well used, phew they've both just used the litter tray. Vivienne xx |

Hi Diana, CPL in Taunton are lttle more than useless, that's why I am doing the trapping with help from The Cat Action Trust. The trouble is that Sam from the C.A.T has nineteen cats already & no spare pen. Have to make do for the moment. Thanks for your concern, it's nice to know people are interested in our 'little' problem. Vivienne xx |
