I do believe in Karma, although I don't believe that when bad things happen it's always because of something you did. But- If you are disloyal to people, eventually they stop trusting you. If you are dishonest, eventually people stop believing you, even when you tell the truth. If you are cruel to people, eventually you have no friends left. If you eat too much, eventually you get fat If you cheat in exams, eventually your lack of knowledge will be exposed etc Gwynne

Maggie Thatcher certainly found out about karma, Fred, so maybe Tony will as well. Gwynne

Morning Gwynne :) That's pretty much the way I see it - all our actions have consequences. Common sense really isn't it?

Morning David You know what ? That's what I say to my kids. Consequences, is the result of your actions. you throw a paddy at me and the consequence is that you will get punished for it. Always think of the consequence before you do the action. (its a good thing for adults including myself to do this as well ! ) Elaine x

Yes, we should all think before we act. That might stop us doing something we shouldn't and if it doesn't then we deserve the consequences. Free will, free choice but if we abuse it we pay a price. Daisy

Slightly off the main topic but (as some of you know) I have worked with children with challenging behaviour. One method we use is to storyboard events, after a child has had a crisis. The child/young person draws pictures that tell the story of what happened. At key points you ask, 'What could you have done differently there?' and the child draws another picture which shows a different outcome. Sometimes it works very well and it does help them see that actions have consequences. Gwynne

The Ego

The Ego Report 8 May 2006 10:27

I have to agree with the family comparison used by Meercat-I have seen how some families are so well sussed because they have generation after generation looked after each other. On the flip side, the demise of the family unit since the sixties has reaped the mess that todays directionless, indifferent, violent, ill disciplined generations display(And Im saying that as a 38 year old,not a grumpy old git) Something that starts at the home and costs nothing ie. positive nuturing and love without spoiling, can in the long run save this country billions of pounds and in return allow taxes to be spent on health ,education and developing the country without funds being diluted by bulging prisons and an overstretched police force. However some things are beyond our control, and nature takes its course-the survival of the fittest is a reality of life, and that relates just as much to criminals preying on the weak and vulnerable or less astute in business ,as it does to those well prepared for life- it is the cruellest reality that is difficult to accept when we see people doing their best and still suffer.
