I have to agree with the family comparison used by Meercat-I have seen how some families are so well sussed because they have generation after generation looked after each other. On the flip side, the demise of the family unit since the sixties has reaped the mess that todays directionless, indifferent, violent, ill disciplined generations display(And Im saying that as a 38 year old,not a grumpy old git) Something that starts at the home and costs nothing ie. positive nuturing and love without spoiling, can in the long run save this country billions of pounds and in return allow taxes to be spent on health ,education and developing the country without funds being diluted by bulging prisons and an overstretched police force. However some things are beyond our control, and nature takes its course-the survival of the fittest is a reality of life, and that relates just as much to criminals preying on the weak and vulnerable or less astute in business ,as it does to those well prepared for life- it is the cruellest reality that is difficult to accept when we see people doing their best and still suffer. |

Slightly off the main topic but (as some of you know) I have worked with children with challenging behaviour. One method we use is to storyboard events, after a child has had a crisis. The child/young person draws pictures that tell the story of what happened. At key points you ask, 'What could you have done differently there?' and the child draws another picture which shows a different outcome. Sometimes it works very well and it does help them see that actions have consequences. Gwynne |

Yes, we should all think before we act. That might stop us doing something we shouldn't and if it doesn't then we deserve the consequences. Free will, free choice but if we abuse it we pay a price. Daisy |

Morning David You know what ? That's what I say to my kids. Consequences, is the result of your actions. you throw a paddy at me and the consequence is that you will get punished for it. Always think of the consequence before you do the action. (its a good thing for adults including myself to do this as well ! ) Elaine x |

Morning Gwynne :) That's pretty much the way I see it - all our actions have consequences. Common sense really isn't it? |

I do believe in Karma, although I don't believe that when bad things happen it's always because of something you did. But- If you are disloyal to people, eventually they stop trusting you. If you are dishonest, eventually people stop believing you, even when you tell the truth. If you are cruel to people, eventually you have no friends left. If you eat too much, eventually you get fat If you cheat in exams, eventually your lack of knowledge will be exposed etc Gwynne |

Lemsip - You speak a lot of sense. I'm not saying that the bad things that happen to good people are fair. All I'm saying is, if you do one (or several!) things wrong, which are malicious and downright evil... expect it to come back and bite you in the behind! Even if you don't experience something awful... you'll always have it on your conscience, which in many cases is the worst punishment possible! |

No I don't agree. The reason I say this is because if this was the case there would be more people in jail for murder, fraud, theft and elderly people wouldn't be worried about going out their homes at night. I also think a lot of people get away with a lot of things because there rich. You can give, give, give all you life and not get anything back. No No No what goes around doesn't come around and you don't reap as you sow. Betty |

I think we are all sowers and all reapers, noone is perfect so we all do things or say things at times which we should have thought twice about. Sometimes we reap far more than we could ever sow.....while others do so many bad things and nothing comes back to them. I am a great believer in life being a book already written for each of us....maybe if we try to change how the book is written, it upsets the balance, maybe if we try to turn a page too quickly it rips a bit....but then if our book was read from cover to cover with out so much as a turned over corner in a page......we never enjoyed the read to the full. |
