Thanks Chris. I also used to get confused when people said 'so and so was staying at Stonehaven' or something like it. They meant so and so was living at Stonehaven However, I would take it as meaning they were visiting there.

Thanks Polly Gwen, don't worry about not understanding it. It is a different language! lol Aberdonian more so. I still haven't picked it all up despite my numerous visits to Aberdeen. My brother used to sit there for 2 weeks not understanding a word of what some of our scottish relatives were saying. x lesley

Sally Moonchild Report 9 Jun 2006 18:23

No Lesley, I dinna ken the Aberdonian turn o phrase. My lot are in Dumfries & Galloway, Lanark, Paisley, Port Glawgow and all points SW.. I remember my mum's accent, and just write it as I heard it. She lived down here 5l years and never lost her lovely accent. If I hear an accent like hers I hang around, just trying to listen to the lilt.....I miss her so much.....and my granny..... Aw jings, maks me wanna greet noo...

~~~~~~~~~waves to Gwen~~~~~~~~ I've got an advantage, I'm half Scottish lol Sally I can hear the accent when you all type lol. Are you any good with Aberdonian? I recognise some of the words. Pity you don't have subtitles lol Will have to go water some tomatoes and feed some cats now. I'll pop back later as a reward for doing some more on my family tree.
