Pardon my nostalgia - but I'm gonna do it anyway... The Wee Wally Dug It sat in its place High up on the shelf An keepit an ee On the rest o the delft Twas washed twice a year Frae its tail tae its lug An pit back in its place Was that Wee Wally Dug Noo, when oor Jim got mairrit tae sweet Jeannie Blue The auld folks they geen him a horse, an a coo But when I got mairrit Losh, my heart gie a tug For aw they gae me Was that Wee Wally Dug Noo, they say you should neer Look a gift horse in the moo But I lookit it oer Frae its tail tae its broo An I fun a wee slit At the hint o its lug And crammed fue o notes Was that wee Wally Dug I geen it tae Jeannie Tae put back on the shelf An I telt her the worth O that wee bit o delft Aye, we still feed it yet Through the slit in its lug, Its a bit o guid stuff Is that wee Wally Dug Learned by me from my lovely Scottish Mum, by word of mouth, on our long journeys by motorbike and sidecar from London to Scotland.... |
